  • Enve is an interesting one! I wouldn't have thought they'd have the size to support a world tour team! I don't know much about the Melee, is it a world tour capable bike?

    Very much so.

Mavic bought ENVE a few years ago, so them going to a French team seems logical.

Enve Composites is owned by Amer Sports. Amer flogged off Mavic back in 2019.

It’s been an open secret for months. He’s ending his UAE contract early to go.

Any rumours on his team for next year? I know he does some road but a lot more CX and MTB

He doesn't do much road, and spent the summer mixing MTB World Cups, and UCI Gravel events.
Saying that, if he did sign for a road team, it would likely be one of the teams who are 'multi discipline'; that basically leaves only a few teams........

Yeah, that was my thoughts. I don't think he is world.tour level on the road. That said Ineos probably have the cash and space to hire him as a Tom Pidcock buddy and travel partner as theyve been quiet on transfers

Not a transfer, but Movistar confirm that Jose Joaquin Rojas is retiring after seventeen years as a pro:

Good shout - maybe as part of their 'off-road' squad.
I also wondered whether Specialized would support him as a 'Privateer' - as they don't really have a top line CX rider; but CX doesn't seem a priority for them, unlike MTB.

Cam Mason to Cyclocross Reds (Team 777); part of the Roodhooft empire - will probably do MTB for Alpecin.

Interesting, though I am surprised he hasn't gone for a team already supporting both MTB and CX given how much of both he does. It must make things much simpler only interfacing with one team?

The Roodhoft brothers manage a number of different teams under different sponsors, so Alpecin-Decuenick, Fenix-Alpecin, 777 and, I think, the Crelan-Circus team, but it's effectively all the same organisation. If they want him to do the XCO World Cup circuit then he'll probably do so under the Alpecin-Decuenick banner.

Isn't Ricci Pascoe, owner of the Bike Chain Ricci shops, the owner of the Saint Piran team?

Owain Doull extends at EF and also missed the fact they had secured the services of 19 year old Lukas Nerurkar from Trinity, who looked very impressive this year.

They now have a full roster.

Yes, you’re quite right, it is him that owns the team.

My mistake, lots of sites say Lampier owned the team.

No need for that. Play nice. 🤣🤣🤣
The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.
I am not sure. You have no chance.

I posted news of the Nerurkar signing in this thread last month, right in the middle of the Jumbo-Visma/Soudal-Quick Step merger talk so probably easy to miss. I think he's the fifth ex-VC Londres youth rider to join the World Tour, after Ethan Hayter, Fred Wright, Leo Hayter and Tom Gloag.
  • Niklas Eg has had to retire at 28 due to heart problems. Shame.

Andrew (AJ) August signs with Ineos.

I hadn't heard of him either.

If Roglic leaves I'm not convinced Evenepoel will too. He's flopped at the giro and vuelta which gives him an excuse to avoid the tour again and he loves an excuse.

I've seen some censored hot takes over the past few days, but this is up there with the worst.
Looks who's getting his excuses in early for the tour🙄

Actually I think the Giro Tour double makes a lot of sense for Remco.
Win the Giro "finally", to get that monkey off your back and ride the Tour with a lot less pressure and most likely switch to stage hunting mode sooner rather than later. Then give the Tour a proper shot in 2025 with the experience of having ridden it before and having won both other GT's (ideally).

    It makes complete sense.
