Paris Olympics SPOILER Thread

Potentially a poor nights sleep, not handing the heat well, or she could be coming down with something.
She's also had fairly well publicised mental health battles after the last olympics, perhaps it could be that as well, or a combination of many things.
Both runs seemed very similar, and were scored as such, 11th out of 12 I think.
My daughter will be disappointed.

They won't talk to anyone outside of their group, so the only difference will be seeing loads of cars and traffic which isn't really that remarkable.

The interview I saw he claimed Pidcock had nearly "sliced him in half" and had led to his foot unclipping by hitting him.
Lots of comments from French cyclists criticising Korezky as a sore loser.

Yeah, I assumed there was something up, by the end of the first runs she would have known that something much more impressive would have been needed and she didn't really try anything.

Worthington, according to the BBC -
My main goal was to be a two-time Olympian, to get here. And after the journey that I’ve had, to perform a run and get to the finish line. The only fight that I was fighting out there was me against me.
So I’m really proud. And very happy with all the people that have helped me get here. I’m proud. I’m feeling a lot of emotions right now. It’s not what you want, but at the same time, I know I’ve won, and I’ve achieved my goal.

Hundreds of armed police and military walking the streets with assault rifles. They’re probably believing everything they’ve been told about the west.

It’s properly hot here today. I know it’s warm at home too but it’s around 5 or 6 degrees warmer in Paris. I abandoned my plans for a run this morning, even walking 1km to the pool was tough enough.

It’s even 34 degrees in the Alps. Sunny and trying to rain all the same time.

Awesome morning of triathlon.
The Parisian gamble of having it in the river has paid off. Looked like the womens bike course was a temporary river too with the overnight rain.
Odd seeing different parts of the city getting used as a bike loop.
Former tri club lass Beth gets her bronze and Alex Yee pulls out a Pidcock and wins gold in the last km

Well let's see if the gamble paid off when we come to the relay next week, if there are loads of sickness withdrawals then maybe it didn't pay off
Bloody good race though

Wonder why there's such a difference between men and women in the BMX. The women seemed fairly sedate, the men are going out there acting like it's a video game and somebody on edibles had the controller. Limbs and bikes flying everywhere.

The first couple of riders putting down huge scores upped the game for the men. Might have helped that an Argentinian went straight after a Brazilian...

Fair play to the French lad there
(This was before the score, the crowd are booing the judges, and on the basis of my complete lack of knowledge I fully agree with them)

Who had the controller for the French guy? 😱

Pleased for the Argentinian winner - I thought he was somewhat underscored in the qualifying

I can't have been paying enough attention to his first run, coming so early in the heat.
Anyway, Jeanjean did better than John John, who massively disappointed me, again.

Beth Shriever looking good in the BMX racing

Looks properly up for it, doesn't she?
That spurt from the Colombian fella to nick second just then was pretty rapid finishing

Shriever is so much ahead of everybody else in her heat in terms of precision and distance that it's not even funny.
2 -
She was looking mighty, mind you, the other two top riders (Willoughby (Not Holly) and Sakakibara) also won all of their heats, so could be an explosive set of rides this evening.
She certainly talked the talk, and looked/came across as VERY confident in the interview afterwards.
Not convinced Whyte will manage a medal in the men's, but it's a bit of a lottery with crashes occurring randomly.

Kai Whyte said after the quarters last night that a back injury had flared up which was stopping him from putting out full power
1 -
Ah I didn't see that - doesn't bode well, unless there is someway he can sort it overnight, was he hopeful or not really?

Beth Shriever absolutely rapid again.
The Capybara lass from Oz is quick in her heats as well, will be a great duel

Will be a very good duel - it feels like Shriever has more left, surely she is backing off with the lead she has coming into the finish line - I'm presuming they have some clue, or perhaps not.

That one was a lot closer than previous runs, hopefully she is sandbagging/conserving energy.
