Wow, Beth Shriever got squeezed out early and was nowhere, the Ozzie lass Sakakibara was outstanding

Think it was lost on the start, she looked kinda wobbly in the gate to me?

They seemed to take an age to put the gate down in the final.

Brilliant mens final, delighted they managed the 1-2-3.
Gutted for Shriever, sods law she could have absorbed that result in one of the semi's but that was the one race where it had to be perfect :-(
Just saw her interview, I'm not sure I've ever seen a more positive person following that kind of result, full credit to her.

Terrible sport. Can't believe people get excited by this nonsense etc etc
(Nah, que sera sera - can hardly claim that anything can happen and then complain that occasionally find things do, in fact, happen)

I'd start from the end of the opening ceremony then watch as much as you can for the next two weeks.

Is live on iplayer.
5 no hopers with 4 minutes on the peloton with 260 to go.

Looks a fair bit of climbing, 3000m or so. Don't know why but I had it in my head that it was a pretty flat course.
I will never forget the Rio course with that batshit crazy descent.

Break of the day has gone
Denmark controlling gently with Bjerg and Mørkøv

There are a lot of climbs, all about 1-1.5kms long and all around 6% average.
So, it's not exactly a sprinters race and it's not exactly a puncheurs course either. Much depends upon how the top nations choose to race it, as to what type of rider gets gold.

Interesting. I think Pidcock was saying it will be a big power guy, so he was tipping the usual suspects of Van Aert, Pedersen, VdP. Although, I am sure he will think GB may be in with a shout to get Tarling into a good position as well perhaps?

Loving seeing Frame (Thailand) in the break.

Peter Sagan thinks it possible that the winner could come from the undercard, as all the big names will be closely marked,

Gap is out to nearly 13 minutes. Feels like we haven't seen that for years

Soon to be a quarter of an hour. Not something we see every day in cycling!

Quick shot of the peleton on bbc1 looked like a nice steady Sunday ride!

I've wanted replica kit for ever and a day, especially with the current design, but their rules mean they do not make any replica/fan kit 😕

I regularly bump into riders from the Thai National Team training around Chiang Mai. It would be crushingly embarrassing to be wearing their kit. It's awful anyway.

We'll have to agree to disagree there :-)
I personally wouldn't wear a leaders jersey, polka dots, national champion, rainbow stripes etc, but all of those jerseys are available in replica status as far as I am aware.
If they sold Mauritian jerseys, there are loads of Mauritians locally and more so around the world who I suspect would jump at the chance to show their support for their home country, whilst putting some more funds into what is guaranteed to be a very small budget for their cycling team.
Also has the potential to inspire more youngsters represent Mauritius when they are older.
Pretty sure the majority of cycling countries allow the sale of their jerseys to fans and supporters.

Previous Mauritian kits have not been very pleasant, but the current one I think is very nice, and that's from someone who does not like red.
