Evenepoel gets a bit panicky over a bike change.
No radio, no gap times apparently.

Poor lad had absolutely no idea how much time he had. Moto comes past later and shows him a minute and you can see the tension evaporate

I like him. That was so well raced.

Brilliant stuff.
That's one cracking picture at the finish

Yeah, that was thoroughly entertaining. Cue the discussion on whether radios should be banned 🤣

Fantastic ride by Remco, and the crowds were amazing, so many people lining the route.

Yeah, up there with the Roma Maxima for an iconic finish line photo. With the foreshortening it almost looked like they finish under the tower.

Anyone know what the telephone mime is about?

Great race and very impressive win.
Had me thinking back to 2012 and how much better the race route could've been if they'd used a climb closer to the centre of London, either in Highgate or Crystal Palace.

Paris sold it's bid on having the Olympics in the city rather than a stadium park... Bit hard to get a grandiose open show ...but I like how they have used the city

I think that’s the point. London would have been better had it used more of the centre rather than just using using the mall as the finish.

Bol beats the Yanks. (At least this time)
A pity neither of the UK’s two big names didn’t turn out for the mixed relay, as it was probably the difference between bronze and gold.

Saint Lucia get their first ever Olympic medal and it’s gold, from Julien Alfred, in the women’s 100 metres.
Clearly they entered a bloke, but forgot to change his name.
UK’s bloke, Darryl Nieta finished first best out of the non medalists.

This was so much better than 9 laps up and down the Champs

Atila Valter thought he was third didnt he? He didnt know Remco had won

Would like to see a circuit more like that for the final Tour stage, not necessarily every year but to mix it up a bit. The Champs loops are a bit tedious even for a ‘procession’

That's the one to have on the wall 30 yrs later but a dream pic for Belgium and every news outlet there. Sponsors prob crying tears of joy. Great race as well.
