Pidders has 22s on Sam Gaze who has just gone past Schurter
  • Gaze goes storming past Schurter

Pidders has 24s over Gaze and Schurter starting the final lap
  • Schurter doing a great job of hanging onto Gaze. Looked at one point like Gaze wanted Schurter to work with him? Gap holding steady at 22s
  • Gaze cracks Schurter at last - Pidcock currently out of sight still...
  • Pidcock takes it by 19 seconds, despite getting a hastily grabbed Yorkshire flag stuck over his face at one point

Pidders says in post race interview that his gears were all over the place in the last couple of laps. Commentators noticed he pointed to the back of his bike going through the pits at end of lap 6
  • Pidcock reveals afterwards that his rear mech had come loose so he was trying not to push it... I'd hate to think what would have happened if he'd ripped it up properly.
  • He's not going to branch out into lucha libre as well, is he?

Evie must have enjoyed her post race beer ;) ; and then became a super fan cheering on Tom.

I ended up watching Tom on iPlayer as Eurosport seemed to have screwed their schedule.... anyone know who the iPlayer lady commentator was?... thought she was good.

    Enjoyed the boys (late).

The ol' IMTBEOS team is looking rather strong. Controlled road by both of them.

Having Evie "roaring you on" must be like being attacked by a kitten :)

Epic ride by Sam Gaze tbf too.

Can we finally sack off this GC nonsense and let riders stick to being what they're best at now?

Edit: was that Miss Tom or Mamma Pidcock..?
We're in danger of confusing passion with incompetence

Just got hooked on watching the trials, the 26" men's final was a thriller

I think the U23 Road race over-ran and by they switched to the MTB just as MVDP was walking away.

I love watching the crowds at these races, there was a little blond haired girl sat on someone’s shoulders going crazy cheering Tom at the medal ceremony.
Tom going round the crowd at the finish was a nice thing.

Currently nothing on the BBC news page or sports page about TP’s win. It’s all about HK who going to Germany, strange there hasn’t been the same interest with Tao going to ride for an Italian coffee machine manufacturer.

They won’t be sponsoring them next season, when Tao joins.

Thanks for the heads up on that - just watched it with them of the "dog agility" quip. Thoroughly enjoyable.

The trials is excellent nostalgia for those of us old enough to remember Kick Start

  • If anyone's going to watch tomorrow, can they please look out for Ese here and give her a bit of a shout? Had a little bit of joshing with her on Twitter, and this kit is ACE

That kit. It’s like something out of an 80s pop video. Devo or the like. Well done Nigeria.

Both Kasia Niewiadoma and Chloe Dygert are not starting today's road race. Niewiadoma has a respiratory infection, Dygert has been ill during the week and the US National team medics have advised she doesn't race today.
