This is why they are pushing e-tickets. Having taken my bike on the train a few times, you do need to think carefully about where it makes sense to just get off and ride. For example, crossing London from one terminal to another.rick_chasey said:1985 Mercian King of Mercia - work in progress (Hah! Who am I kidding?)

So is a transit van, but not much fun. Nicer to sit down, read a book and enjoy the view.Stevo_666 said:

Bear in mind that the forecasts pretend that it will go up next year, which it won't either. Easy way to flatter the figures until something else comes along.0

My experience is also 15 years out of date and I think I was there at the tail end of a boom period, so YMMV.surrey_commuter said:

Sheffield (especially the west side) is heaven for cyclists. Although many of the comments on this thread make me wonder how many actual cyclists are on here0

Looks like the first of many loopholes

I heard Croatia is going to go against the EU directive as well by complaining they just don't have the infrastructure or capacity to do this without building 3 new powerstations for it to work.
Also seems like Spain is taking valuable arable land to create new solar farms to provide power.

Sometimes. Maybe. Possibly.

Hopefully this the dam starting starting to break as reality dawns. There are a lot of interesting low volume manufacturers to choose from, we should 'shop small' and help them survivephotonic69 said:Looks like the first of many loopholes

I also hear that VW, BMW, Ford etc are all lobbying for changes to the legislation as there is no way they can secure enough lithium to make the batteries for the cars they are supposed to make.Sometimes. Maybe. Possibly.

It's not just the amount of metals in the earth that are minable (one problem) but the fact that, for the next decade at least, the entire industry will be reliant on Chinese refiners to get the metals to a usable level.surrey_commuter said:

Got to be honest, I’m not in the super car market but I think we’re on a very painful trajectory with electric cars.
There is simply not enough charging infrastructure in place or being provisioned and yet manufacturers are already switching over production lines.
2030 is not realistic for all new cars to be electric but the manufacturer are understandably working to that deadline. And then you have the supply problems.
Not anti electric (unlike some) but I think the trajectory is massively off. Labour need to have some strong ideas in this area as it’s going to start biting more and more in the next parliament.0 -
In my superior correct opinion humanity needs a combination of all technologies. Electric cars suit some people (short trips, able to charge on the drive) and others not. Also, mentioned in the thread earlier new battery technology is evolving, sodium based as one example.0

Oh, VW are making a new EV polo called the ID2.0

The Welsh Government’s new idea is a possible clean air zone on the M4 at Brynglas tunnels if the current 50mph limit doesn’t work at reducing pollution. I haven’t seen any details but there seems to be an obvious issue in making pollution worse with drivers diverting through residential areas to avoid the charge.0
