This week Mr Musk told Twitter staff that they had to commit to working long hours and would "need to be extremely hardcore" or leave the company, according to reports.
What could possibly go wrong?
Today's announcement that Twitter had temporarily closed its offices came amid signs that large numbers of workers have now also resigned as they have not accepted Mr Musk's new terms. The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.

Radio 4 stating c.2,000 people left working at Twitter (and dropping) from 8,000 when Musk took over..

Yeah, I forgot to add a link to the full story.
One suspects that people management is not a strong point. 🤣The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.

I can't help feeling with entire teams threatening to leave that the likelihood of some of them taking a punt on setting up a rival platform is increasing. Despite making a U-turn on home working for now, he does seem to be going full-tilt on plssing off the entire workforce.0 -
I suppose buying Twitter was like buying a car with outstanding HP on it but with an existing warranty (staff, skills).
Now he's burning the warranty.seanoconn - gruagach craic!0 -

I really do wonder if the bloke's on something strong... his feed last night is like something from a uni student on a bënder.

I guess my Hogan link didn't get much bite on here. So I have a colleague who assesses people for a living and has an autistic child and they're much more sympathetic to Musk than I am, and they see a lot of his communication style and brashness as deriving from that neurodiversity.briantrumpet said:I really do wonder if the bloke's on something strong... his feed last night is like something from a uni student on a bënder.
I think with that in mind, a more capable CEO in his make up would probably introduce some measures; maybe not tweeting everything they think of - and putting in a team around them to compensate for the shortfalls in management style, and allow him to focus on his strengths.0 -
Its not really his communication style and brashness that's the problem here, is it?0

That is absolutely part of the problem.kingstongraham said:Its not really his communication style and brashness that's the problem here, is it?

It is part of the problem, but it's a perfect storm of rubbish handling, impetuousness (right from making the offer in the first place) and over-confidence in his own brilliance. I think up till now he's been lucky to get away with that combination.0 -
I'm not a fan of the trend of armchair diagnosing people with neurodiversity or mental health issues, seems to be getting more common.- Genesis Croix de Fer

If he'd not made bad decisions that needed to be almost immediately reversed, and not fired 80% of the workforce without knowing whether they were needed, I think his communication style would be no problem.rick_chasey said:

Neurodiversity in his case is at a detriment to people.
Is that a get out clause? Oh it's okay, yeah I know he treats people badly but he's got 'neurodiversity'.
Fred West had neurodiversity.seanoconn - gruagach craic!1 -
No-one's saying it is, but you can't ignore that context for how he behaves.

it's no excuse for being a throbber though, which he most definitly is.rick_chasey said:
He has been diagnosed and shared that with everyone. It would be obtuse to ignore that.pangolin said:I'm not a fan of the trend of armchair diagnosing people with neurodiversity or mental health issues, seems to be getting more common.

Who is giving it as an excuse? Certainly not me, I have been pretty consistent in calling him a pr!ck0

Strange comment. I made no reference to whether you thought that was a get out clause or whether you were defending him because of his neurodiversity.rick_chasey said:No-one's saying it is, but you can't ignore that context for how he behaves.

You are suggesting it's a get-out clause. No-one has suggested it is. You've invented that.pinno said:

The crossover between Musk & Trump is now marked by a Musk poll on whether Trump should be allowed back. I don't normally do these things, but I made an exception in this case, if only to see which way it's heading... after an hour it was 60/40 in favour of Trump, but after 9m votes, it's moving closer to parity. It would be quite fun to see Trump lose yet another vote.
