Sagan failed COVID test this morning.

How many times has he had covid now? 3?

Higuita almost a minute down on Kung at halfway. Thomas well ahead of Higuita too.

Kung really looks good on a TT bike.

But slightly unexpectedly, Remco fastest at the finish so far, and can't see anyone else taking it.

Great ride from Thomas, good to see he's still got it

Stage: Evenepoel - Thomas - Kung

GC: Thomas - Higuita - Fuglsang - Powless - Kung

Higuita must have had a really good second half today, because he looked like he was sinking without trace at halfway.

One of Thomas's better TTs since his Tour win.

First half checks for relative to Kung who seemed to have a bad second half.

Have there been (m)any races where it would have mattered?

Will people now put Thomas back into the list of Tour contenders now please. I know he doesn't fit the 'new generation' narrative, but he was 3rd favorite last year and for my money not much behind Roglic.

I'm sure Rob Hatch will. He even added Bob Jungels to the list today.

Wonder what happened to Remco. He wasn't having an off day. He was dropped on the climbs multiple times, despite being super strong in Norway just a few days/weeks ago. Super strong in the ITT again then.

Thomas on 2018 form would be a match for Roglic I think. For Pogacar, probably not

Wonder how many will be withdrawing from nationals if going to the tour. Surely the teams will have them all in isolation asap.

I don't see it, he is unlikely to match them on the climbs much as I'd like to see it. Possible podium but will he even be Ineos's main man? I couldn't work out who their leader was originally in this race even, I'd assumed it would be Yates.

No offense (to anyone), but it's a farce. Thomas would have lost to Vlasov and Pogacar destroys Vlasov. Obviously, anything is possible in a 3 week race, but it's a 2 horse race.

Seems to me that in the current climate handing out definitive favourite tags based on past performance is only as reliable as the last Covid test.

That more or less sums up my thoughts. Pog>Rog>Everyone else.

Lose those two and it could end up with a rather open TdF.

The Tour needs a Le Mans (WEC) style BoP (Balance of Performance); so ballast and/ or a restrictor.... ;)
