    Stage 4 Grenchen - Brunnen 192km
Departing from the velodrome in Grenchen, the riders will travel east towards Luzern, with a single 3rd cat climb along the way.
The route takes in a full circuit of the Queen of the Mountains, the Rigi, as well as giving the riders a first look at the finish line.
After the first circuit the route diverts for a sting in the tail, the 2nd cat ascent from Steinen to Sattel. This climb should be long and hard enough to thin the bunch, and is followed by a rapid descent to Schwyz before the run in to the finish. Any gaps at the top will be hard to close in the remaining 15km.
More of a stage for the sprinty climbers than the climby sprinters.

Too much flat before the final climb, so if teams want a win the break should be brought back before it starts

    2. MATTHEWS
    3. SKA
    4. BETTIOL
    5. PIDCOCK

EF did all the work up the climb and leading it out but Bettiol didn't have the legs to finish. Pidcock a little boxed in but doesn't have the top end. Impey and Matthews both came up quick from further back and Impey just holds on.

Good summary . I think the Welsh lad keeps the jersey

Proper grit and determination from Williams there. Deserved to keep it for another day.

Impey is 37. He had a bad crash last year so great to see him win. He definitely took the best line in that sprint.
Williams showed great determination to get back on after last climb. Wonder if it was his family holding the Welsh flag near the podium ?

BA.4 and BA.5 waves are increasing in a lot of places, presuming all the team recover fine, it's possibly a good thing to get infected now and then have vastly reduced odds of a team infection during TDF next month.

Yates and Mader also DNS today. (Plus Pernsteiner, Fedorov, Gogl, Vergaerde).

Yates positive for Covid, don't know about the rest.

That has to put Yates' participation at the Tour in doubt.

Scrap that, getting my Yates brothers mixed up.

Vlasov wins - after a bit of fannying about on the final climb that meant the second chasing group nearly got back to them as well as the first chasing group.

Powless, Fuglsang, Thomas in the first group too, with Schachmann just dropped and in the next group. Vlasov new GC leader.

Gruelling. 4 GC guys all look to be coming good.

2 minutes down. Was he dropped on that last steep climb before the finish ramp?

Kung is going well this year - interesting to see how he goes over the big hills next two days.

Was hoping for a bit more from Pidcock at end. Realise he’s supporting Thomas but was looking strong before the last 2k.

Cases of COVID across 4 or 5 teams and Vlasov in the lead.

Judging by the interview yesterday with one of the Race organisers (I think) there seemed to total surprise on the part of the journalist that COVID was still a "thing".
