VdP making the same mistake Pidcock did last time by attempting to ride the gutter but manages not to lose a gap. Not a huge gap to Madouas and Van Baarle.0

You have to go back to Moser, so another guy who isn't really a GT rider. Hinault never managed it, nor did Fignon or Lemond, and then we got into the era of GT riders supposedly not being any good at cobbled classics.TheBigBean said:

Was wondering about that. For the last couple of decades I can hardly remember a GT winner even starting a cobbled Classic. Wiggins is one I can remember and I think Nibali? Not sure Geraint has done any since he won th Tour.
