Just found out about the PR-Amstel switcharoo and I am seething.

    WTF.

Edit: it's so we get to find out Le Pen is really popular that weekend.

    :(

Look on the bright side, Rick.
It would have been all over after this weekend.
Now we get The Race of a Thousand Corners out of the way, but still have P-R to look forward to.
Besides, the current champions have only had half a year as it is.

Plus at least there's now some chance of seeing WvA in PR. No way he'd be racing this weekend.

So...it's AGR tomorrow and P-R next week??

    Is P-R likely for WVA?

Apparently he’s been feeling rough with covid so unlikely to be in form as he’s not training

Meh. But would probably come too soon anyway. Season is still long, best to be safe. I somehow still expect him to be there.

DSM are to use a system that adjusts tyre pressure using a control on the handlebars, as approved by the UCI for use from this month. I can't help thinking that if this was sky/ineos this would be so over Twitter with claims of "financial doping"

If you don’t have a favourite it’s one way to get coverage.

WvA is out training in Spain to see if he is up for it.
  • Dry forecast for Paris Roubaix

May be an unpopular opinion but I'm pleased about that

We had the wet one last year and it became a power fest

This year I want a tactical battle where it's not necessarily the strongest that wins

Interested to see what Vermeesch does. Boonen had a stinker in 2003 after a podium in a wet 2002 race
  • Prefer a dry, dusty Roubaix (with a wet one every 10 years to mix it up)

Forecast says largely a headwind though

I believe he said he was training in Spain this week to see if he was ready. Also his team said they were cautious about him rushing back.

"Wout van Aert could still ride Paris-Roubaix on Sunday, but it would be “impossible” for him to ride for the win, Jumbo-Visma DS Merijn Zeeman has told Het Laatste Nieuws.

“We want to make the decision on Thursday, but if Wout rides Roubaix, it will be to help a teammate. Winning himself seems impossible,” Zeeman explained.

The Belgian champion has been training in Spain after being given the all-clear from team doctors to resume training. The team chose to send Van Aert to Spain to benefit from the warm weather and avoid the risk of further illness from training in bad weather."

Imo if he can’t race to win, he shouldn’t race at all.
Either they are being foolhardy and risking his season, or it’s bull and he’s ready to go.

The latter, I think. Remember when he turned up for Het Nieuwsblad saying he was just riding to see where his form was at, and wouldn't contend for the win?

Further to the incident that saw the QS team car take out their own team leader and several other riders and to rub salt into the wound, their DS, Geert Van Bondt got slapped with a 2000CHF fine.

Seems unfair as they were clearly told to move up and the rider moved across them.

Yeah seemed like a racing incident from the rider rather than the driver. He couldn't have gone any further from the pack
