My bro had a pair of those wheels when he bought a brand new CAAD3 back in the mists of time - he used it to commute into central london :D

He still has the frame, and we fitted a new groupset on it a few years ago, but he sold the wheels for reasonable money 2nd hand - they were in pretty good condition to be fair - very distinctive looking.

  • I love those old Cannondale in the Saeco colours. They actually used Spinergy's, guys like Bettini and Cipollini had them.

The first Colnago I bought was from Maestro cycles about 15-20 years ago. He had just sold a C50 to a guy in the states who was trying to return it as it was "too flexy". Turns out he had bought a pair of Spinergy to go on the bike and he eventually realised it was the wheels that were the problem.

I'm pretty certain my brothers was a Cippollini edition (Which is why I guess it had those wheels), or some such thing, but sadly the frame cracked, and they replaced it under warranty with another CAAD3 but not the special edition one, so slighlty different decal colours.

The forks are time iirc, I think they were carried over from the original bike.

Fitted the two garmin mounts this afternoon, and was going to fit the supacaz bartape, which I think really suits my Foil, but have changed my mind, so it's still tapeless.
This is what it weights with pedals, saddle, garmin mounts, and bottle cages - everything with the exception of bar tape:

Very happy with that - the tape and metal compression plugs will still bring it in at about 6.95kg.
Without pedals, would be more like 6.75kg.
50g heavier than the £15999 Addict RC Ultimate, although remove the bottle cages, and mounts, and it would be 50g lighter.

This is what I have ordered instead, same make, different design - randomly Halfords of all people had stock, and was able to use my work discount scheme and BC discount which knocked about a fiver off it:

A bit peed off with myself as I could have sussed this out WAY earlier, as I had time to wrap it tonight, and am planning a lengthy first ride tomorrow - however I have ridden without bar tape before, and I dare say I can do it again - give me a chance to ensure the levers/hoods are in exactly the right place.
