Too slow, but thanks. Confess I'd forgotten it was on so "late"50x11 said:

What is rather nice after many years of the opposite is that there is a lot of love for Tom.
Oh...and this guy

2 to go 29 seconds gap.0
-
Be amusing if the Belgians only get a bronze after swamping everyone in a sea of blue on that first lap.1
-
Need a hosepipe and a ton of mud dumping on this course0
-
As poor as the turn out I'm glad its not in Europe with the Belgian/Dutch fans booing Pidcock because they're being beaten.0
-
Gap holding at 29 seconds. Get the feeling that van de Haar wouldn't be keeping that gap there if he wasn't trying to break Iserbyt - he's throwing the kitchen sink at this.0
-
The timing of the dismounts into the steps make me nervous2
-
Last lap, Pidcock takes a 27 second gap into it... Iserbyt still gamely hanging onto van der Haar, who keeps putting the digs in...0

Showboats the jump0

Pidcock giving it a tailwhip over one of the jumps. Think he's enjoying this...0

And goes over the line in the superman position. Absolutely having a whale of a time.Lanterne_Rogue said:Pidcock giving it a tailwhip over one of the jumps. Think he's enjoying this...
Van der Haar does Iserbyt in the sprint for second. Always looked like doing him, tbh.0 -
Pidcock takes it with ease. Iserbyt bizarrely launched an attack that basically left him leading out the sprint and getting beaten by Van Der Haar for silver.0

Tom had a pretty poor start and needed to take a few risks through the technical section to avoid getting swamped by the Belgies. Venturini did him a favour by stretching them out and really thinning out the number of blue shirts in the lead group but as soon as Pidcock went there was only one winner barring mishaps with Venturini and Van Der Haar making the chase difficult.
Enjoyed that, the course could have done with a second technical section but preferred it to a slog through heavy mud.1 -

Given that TP often seems to sit up if he’s not going to win I wonder if last weekends races were a bit of ploy to lull everyone to think he might be a bit off the pace.0

Danish coms reckon he went out training 3hrs before Saturday's race last weekend 😱webboo said:Given that TP often seems to sit up if he’s not going to win I wonder if last weekends races were a bit of ploy to lull everyone to think he might be a bit off the pace.
As for today's race, the first few laps were interesting. Belgians really trying to bully Tom - first lap he let a couple of them get in front of him and first time over the sharp embankment into the "technical" section he was checked over the top to let the front man get a gap. He never let more than one ahead of him again there, second lap he snuck ahead on the inside and checked them back. His eventual attack started there when he checked them again. Very cheeky, but if they thought they could play big boys rules and bully him out they were very much mistaken 😅Warning No formatter is installed for the format0 -
The women's u23 turned on the same embankment, BTW. Lots of incidents there amongst the lead 3.Warning No formatter is installed for the format0

Won’t be a happy Belgian camp tonight.Napoleon, don't be jealous that I've been chatting online with babes all day. Besides, we both know that I'm training to be a cage fighter.0

Any ideas as to why Nathan Smith's bike failed its UCI check, requiring him to borrow a bike?0
-
Good question - I'd like to know that. He's been on a Ribble/Shimano all season, and has presumably passed technical checks. He has had a few mechnicals (Namur, British Nationals). And ended up racing on a Trek/Sram bike.....JimD666 said:Any ideas as to why Nathan Smith's bike failed its UCI check, requiring him to borrow a bike?
Saw a photo on instagram of him with Sven; and immediately put 2+2 together (they have already signed Haverdings)
Should also remember Pidcock was at Trek, but left after one season to go to TP Racing (later Trinity) which raised a few eyebrows. All Road/ Gravel: tbcWinter: tbcMTB: tbcRoad: tbc"Look at the time...." "he's fallen like an old lady on a cruise ship..."0 -
