It's possible that he's just a really fast 400m runner, and they don't normally concentrate on the hurdles. Plus shoes are a bit faster.

I don't understand why a catch is based on the 1st rider not the 3rd. It appears to be the rules, but doesn't make sense to me.

I assume because one team trying to pass the other while either team is changing rider order is a recipe for disaster.

I was questioning the rest of the field who were also really quick. If you looked at the race, the splits aren't the sort you would expect if someone was knocking 0.7s off the world record.

German women smash another 2 seconds off the TP world record to take gold ahead of GB.

The women's TP final was quite the statement - both men's and women's gb TP teams have a fair amount of work to do between now and 2024, though if any team can manage it.

Australia go to absolute shit in the run-off for Bronze. Third man never got on.
Napoleon, don't be jealous that I've been chatting online with babes all day. Besides, we both know that I'm training to be a cage fighter.

And then GB do the same.

Fucks sake, some of the team track work has been piss-poor.

UCI have tweeted that it's DEN vs. ITA in the final

Would appear it is not yet decided - maybe another appeal.

Regrettably, if you google for the latest on the result, both the daily hatemail, and the express (Where truth goes to die) have articles on the knee plaster bits, and the danes swearing at tanfield - nice bit of xenophobic content for them, bet they had multiple journalists on standby to try and find it as soon as it happened.

That was a bit of a damp squib, was expecting a good hard battle - gb needed their previous performance in the final.

Man 2 dropped off at the start, but then couldn't understand why Kenny still had a gap after lap 2, not that it would have made a difference.
Sprint team normally really well drilled.

Sounds like they gave it all to get to the final, and then were basically a bit out of energy.
He also said they 'geared up' for the final, so I'm assuming that means they stuck bigger chainrings on (?) and that may have contributed to the splits.

I think it's a sign of how absolutely on the limit all the TP and TS squads have been. Never seen so many teams fall to bits in the TP

Official, as it stands, Denmark in the gold ride off.
    Britain's status as yet undecided.
The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.
I am not sure. You have no chance.

The Danes deserve to be in the final, they and Italy are the standout teams.

The GB squad was well out of it before the crash, they started fast but couldn't sustain it. We knew before the games started that the men's TP squad only had an outside chance of a medal and so it proved.

Denmark are the fastest team, but not sure they should get away with crashing into someone and then screaming abuse at them without some consequences. At least Madsen should be out of the final.

I wouldn't want to be on the roads in Denmark with that angry myopic Dane about. He must cause havoc.

I don't think you should ever take anything an athlete says in the heat of the moment seriously. The heady mix of shock, adrenalin and a lack of oxygen plays havoc with reactions.

He shouldn't have hit Tanfield, but the officials should warn the catching team that they are about to make the catch and that didn't happen from what I saw. Technically they made the catch so them going to the final is the right outcome.

People forget that that the GB women’s pursuit team crashed into each other after their semi. There’s tech chatter about the unusually wide rear and stays of the GB bikes and the worry that they may cause problems in the bunch races.

There might be chatter, but it's clearly a load of cobblers isn't it.

That was just because Katie Archibald wasn't looking where she was going.

Did you see that crash? It was just two riders chatting and not looking where they were going. Was well after the finish, nothing to do with the shape of the bikes. Archibald crashed into Evans, who was the dropped rider.

Farce, Denmark could now be classed as being on 2 warnings. Cheats and bad sportsmen to boot.

The irony of (I assume) a brit accusing the Danes of cheating because they found a marginal gain costing a couple of quid, which they got uci approval for before the first race, when the gb team has pushed every grey area possible.

I mean, have we forgotten about this already?

The officials should warn the team who are about to get caught, so that they don't make any more changes and cause a crash by launching someone up the banking into the team making the catch. The team catching has (or should have) a pretty good view, and there's no real need to warn them.

Sure, but trying to board your rival's vessel is taking the viking thing a little far. Happened earlier in the sailing too, when they tried to pillage the mark at the end of one of the legs. Ancestral muscle memory kicking in, clearly.

Multiple countries complained about both the shin tape and something about the Dane's undervests too
  • Got the gymnastics on in the background. Glad Biles snuck a medal right at the end (on her worst event, so probably not too cheesed about not getting gold). Was only watching out of the corner of my eye, but it looked like the Chinese coaches initially shoved their gold-winning gymnast out of the way in order to celebrate with each other instead, which is a bit... weird.
