^^Dr. Hutch pointing out that it is in the exact place you'd want it to trip air around the shins 😋

So, after the team pursuit heats, how do we all feel about 3D printed components?

Boardman was of the opinion that the ones on the Aussie bike were carbon - that was after he saw some different camera angles.

CFC can also be made by additive manufacturing. Were they not made that way for the Aussies' bikes?

Probably not. The lightest CF parts will be made from sheets of carbon fibre threads laid up in epoxy resin and then baked in an oven - the usual way carbon fibre items are made. 3D printed stuff will be short strands of carbon fibres in 3D printable plastic. Stronger than straight 3D printable plastic but nowhere near as strong as regular carbon fibre parts.

The GB team lost the best part of a second on the first lap which then went out to about 1.5 seconds but they were pulling it back gradually until the second rider lost the wheel on the last two laps. I can't see them beating the Danes but felt if they had made the 2nd v 3rd ride off they could have made the gold medal ride by being a bit better organised.

In a cycling event where weight is less crucial I can't understand opting for a potentially less robust material in crucial areas like the bars.

oh is it 1st versus 4th and 2nd versus 3rd?

If so, then yes, a bronze is the best they can hope for.

I know the BBC don't have many channels, but not showing the women's 5,000m live because some Brit is going to come second by miles in weightlifting is odd.

Counter argument - the last 5000m final was five years ago, the last GB female weightlifting medal was never

I suppose it's the priority between possibly the start of the biggest story in the biggest Olympic sport vs a plucky British kind of success in a less popular sport.

The BBC coverage reminds me of when I was trying to watch a champions league game in Malawi. I found a suitable local place and asked which game they were going to show. "All three" was the reply, despite there being only one TV, "we do 30 mins of each game".

I don't think I have seen anybody as thrilled to win a Gold as the Dane in the Men's badminton. Great to see that and how much it means.

    The favourite won.

OK to be fair she won the 1st of 3 possible golds in the 5K, she's also going for the 10k and the 1500m. To be it becomes a big story when she lines up in the 3rd race having won 2 golds.

Thanks. That would be pretty big if she pulls it off. No-one's won three individual running golds since Zatopek have they?

It was beautiful. He was absolutely dominant all tournament, didn't drop a single set, but was clearly under ridiculous pressure. Also great to see the respect between both finalists. Chen Long beat him in the semi in Rio on the way to gold. There was a point during the second set today when Axelsen did something so ridiculously brilliant that Long just smiled. That's when you know you're getting beaten by someone who's so outrageously good and in form that even if you brought your absolute best (and Long played very, very well) all you can do is try and prolong the match and enjoy the brilliance.

Yes, we're bigging up Axelsen here, majorly. He'll be prominent on the Olympics montage next weekend (hopefully with the team pursuit boys!)

She fell after the bell in her heat of the 1500 in the morning session today, got up and won the heat. Then in the evening session won the 5,000 gold. Good day's work.

She's the world champ in the 1500m and the 10,000m.

I know it’s the second week in but I can’t quite get over how bad the highlights package is on Today at the Games

I recon it’s 60% studio chatting, 20% montages with a stiring soundtrack and only 20% of actual footage.

Yep, I don't give a sh1t about idle chat in the studio I just wan to see the sport. This always happens when the BBC cover cycling, they will spend a good ten minutes taking about the race in the studio whilst it's live, LIVE! Get the hint!

So there were two gymnastics floor performances they spent about 4 minutes talking about but they never showed them!

In that time we could have seen it!

At the last Olympics the bbc had 5000 hours of sport to show.
This time Eurosport owns all the sports rights and because our parliament says it has to be shown on free to air tv , the bbc has been given 350 hours of sport and they have no control of what’s shown live .

The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.
I am not sure. You have no chance.
