Wiggins reckons Denmark will be DQed, GB won't get a time and Australia will go to the final. (Although surely New Zealand were the next fastest)

Edit: It would be New Zealand v Australia for silver. Italy automatic gold. Although it's Kirby saying that so who knows?

Boardman doesn't. Who do you believe?

Ultimately surely the blame is with Tanfield for not wearing a Hi Viz jacket

Tbf they don't deserve to be in it, they should have been withdrawn for their antics in the last round. Wonder where all the pent up rage is coming from?

GB did get caught, regardless of whether Denmark get booted out, right?

That's quite some front to crash into someone and then shout at them for being in the way.

I'm guessing he drives a large suv.

  • I suspect the Dane thought Tanfield was a dropped man 4 getting in the way rather than man 3 still riding.
Regardless, if you ride straight in to the back of someone because you're not looking, it's always your fault. Probably as angry at himself as much as anything

Yes, I believe it'll be the next fastest time who goes through.

The rules state that a catch is made in the team pursuit when the get within 1 metre of the opposition. So technically Denmark had already won the race by the time of the incident.

The sporting thing would be for GB to acknowledge the best team won and not object as they were getting nowhere near a medal time.

Agree, but also think Denmark don't deserve to compete the final based on that reaction. If it had been one outburst then an apology, it'd be fine but he doubled down.

    Yeah no.

Napoleon, don't be jealous that I've been chatting online with babes all day. Besides, we both know that I'm training to be a cage fighter.

I wouldn't want GB to object to try and get them dq'd but I can see they would object to their rider being sworn at for being on the track, totally out of order.

I don't understand why a catch is based on the 1st rider not the 3rd. It appears to be the rules, but doesn't make sense to me.

UCI com's on it. GB asking for DQ and Tanfield finished his lap, Denmark walked off saying they'd won.

Also, Michael Johnson is the best pundit on TV for any sport. Quite how he's not been snapped up by US networks I have no idea.

I've thought that for a long time; says it like it is - were the British pundits try to offer excuses for poor performances - he puts them right.
His only equal is possibly Osi Umenyiora from the BBC's NFL coverage....

For anyone who is interested, Johnson has had quite a remarkable recovery from a really serious stroke since the last Olympics.

"A team is caught when the opposing team (at least 3 riders riding together) arrives at or within a distance of one metre of it."

"if one team catches the other, the catching team is declared the winner and shall stop as soon as possible in order to allow the other team to finish the distance and thus to record a time. "

So it could go either way.

He is unsuited to US sports coverage because he expresses an opinion.

I guess that answers my question though. It is based on the first rider only when two others are sitting on his wheel.

Also, why was the 400m hurdles so quick? It wasn't just the winner it was the entire field. Is this the track, shoes or something else?

Farce, Denmark could now be classed as being on 2 warnings. Cheats and bad sportsmen to boot.

Former AFC Richmond skipper Roy Kent's debut punditry on Sky Sports last week was the best sports punditry ever.

He's a Puma athlete, so has a springy carbon plate in his shoes but not the extra fancy Nike pogo stick shoes.

    Second place has the Nikes.
