Depends which broadcaster you're watching, of course.elbowloh said:
I was the opposite. For half the tricks they just said things like "yes, like that" with no info on what we actually just saw.Lanterne_Rogue said:I'm almost as impressed by the commentators recognising what the hell's going on than I am by the competitors for nailing it. Glad there was some sort of crowd for the BMX final though - their reaction gave so much more context to tricks being landed (or not) than just the commentators getting excited.
Hannah Robert's interview with the BBC (which I've only just seen) was something else though. You get the feeling she's really pleased someone else is throwing out some big tricks and looking forward to the challenge. Best of luck to her.0 -
Said somewhere else on the board how many of the interviews have been so refreshing and honest for these Olympics, probably something to do with them not having loads of media training and made to be blandLanterne_Rogue said:

They're probably just really, really excited to be talking to somebody other than the teammates they've been isolated with for weeks now...elbowloh said:

The first time I've seen this, but it seems to have been out for a year and a half.

Awesome world record from Germany in the women's team pursuit qualifying.
Interesting to see how close GB can get to it.0 -

If you wear a POC aero helmet like that it should be instant disqualification in my mind. INSTANT!!0

A bit embarrassing when you have all that fancy kit.0

Don't often see someone swing out from second in line.0

These women would be getting medals in the men’s event in 1992.
Shows the progression
Filippo Ganna on own would have got a medal as late as 2004 (and I'm sure he'd go sub 4 minutes if the IP was still in the Olympics)Twitter: @RichN950 -
Very messy last couple of laps there. No point looking back, seeing you’ve made a gap and then still pushing.Napoleon, don't be jealous that I've been chatting online with babes all day. Besides, we both know that I'm training to be a cage fighter.0

Another team loses rider two.
Seriously impressed by the Italians getting the third in line back onto Ganna's wheel.0 -
Felt like Ganna would have been faster solo. They were less than 2 seconds up when he took his first turn, it went up to 2.7 seconds on his first (fairly short) turn which dropped before going back to 2.8 as the other 3 took their turns. He then did his final turn and stretched it back out to 4.5 seconds with the others grovelling to hold on. Just lead him out for the first few laps until you hit top speed and then leave him on the front!0

Scary equipment failure for the Aussies, lost his handlebars0

Anyone hearing Brad's comments on ES?The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.
I am not sure. You have no chance.Veronese68 wrote:PB is the most sensible person on here.0 -
I'd heard that Carlton was commentating, so no. What's he got to say?pblakeney said:Anyone hearing Brad's comments on ES?

Not hearing Brads comments. Watching the ad free stream on ES player.0

Me too. A minute of silence from Carlton is a welcome break though. 😉norrinradd said:Not hearing Brads comments. Watching the ad free stream on ES player.

Respect to the Aussie guy who's properly messed up after his bike snapped.0

The runway in Tokyo '91 was incredibly hard as was the track - hence the 100m WR going as well.Pross said:
It's incredible how little it has increased (I know Mexico City was at altitude but still, with all the advancements in technology and how much other records have changed in that time).dabber said:
Just amazing when you measure these things. Always seem impossible.focuszing723 said:
Yeah, I've taken my down and set it up outside to give it a try. I'm going to kick off at 1.7m and work my way up.kingstongraham said:Just measured how high 2.33 metres is against the curtain rail.
I remember when Bob Beamon broke the Olympic long jump medal in 1968, Mexico.
I measured it out in the garden.... 8.9 metres (29.2 feet) It's impossible. I know the current record is 8.95.
I had the school record when I was about 14 at 4.something. it felt huge at the time.
I think that grade of track was banned subsequently.
Not to take away from Powell's WR - that was an incredible comp vs. Carl Lewis.0 -
Did the Aussies manage to put a time in, or will it be a lot later on?
So lucky he was not at the front, as with no real brakes, chances are the entire team would have hit the track.
@pblakeney are you able to summarise Brad's comments?
As soon as I realised the BBC were not taking the same feed I abandoned the ES ship pronto.Felt F70 05 (Turbo)

Aussies got a second ride, came 5th.
Denmark are on fire, and they know they can go faster, there were a couple of short turns in the 2nd-3rd km leaving a ridiculous final turn.Warning No formatter is installed for the format1 -

"I've been listening to what Brad has to say, wow that was really boring/contentious/bizarre - has anyone else heard him?"
Denmark look untouchable, leagues above - and agreed, looks like Denmark V Italy, almost certainly.
GB were fast for them, but still a BIG distance off, and fractured pretty early.
I think they would need one of the other teams to have a really bad ride to make it through to the gold/silver ride.
Can't believe Clancy is now 36 - makes me feel so old.Felt F70 05 (Turbo)
