That check by Cav to find room as the sprint started cost him a shot, shame, but he got the green and he's had hell of a Tour.

Absolutely shit TV coverage of the finish. Head on shot and suddenly the riders were over the line. Rare mistake by Cav to let his rivals box him on the barrier. It also seemed odd for the sprint to be on the left.

Well done wva. That's a pretty crazy three stages to take.

Cav was never going to beat him when he had that lead out. Dqs messed it up 2.5km out, but they were on the same side as jumbo visma.

What a time to box yourself in. If they didn't set up a sprint on Friday to try and stage manage things then it's backfired royally.

    WvA just ridiculous though.

Cav had to stop pedalling as the gap never opened. Clever by WvA to keep just close enough to the barrier to block.

No gifts that’s why the 34 wins is so impressive.

I don't not think cav will win another tour stage ever

Combination of DQS being forced to do too much work in the last 10km and JV riding the last 700m very well.

    Fair play.

Cav's going to have to come back next year then...

Might make it interesting if leadout men have to make it around the place de Concorde 'chicane' and wind the speed back up again...

DQS not great in the last section again. HTC would never have been bullied off the front in the last 3km.

They were on there knees ...ran out of power
I really don't rate their lead out much. Morkow is excellent and Ballerini very good but not the rest (Alaphilippe did a monster turn to catch the break on Cav's first win). I didn't think they were that good for Bennett last year either but then they aren't specialists like that HTC team or Kittel's team were

If cav had returned and snagged one stage it would have been a dream result ...4!

Cav had a chance to go right of WVA before Philipsen drifted left. He either felt it was too early or didn't have the legs. I reckon the latter and that the mountains took their toll on him.

I assume it meant Cav had the record at stake and the expectation he would win (plus possibly his last chance) whereas WVA had no pressure of expectation and will got loads more chances

Once WVA got wound up on that last 700m no one was coming past him.

It's a good job Jens Voigt or Chris Boardman never got on the podium. They've got six kids each.

Cav already had the record and wva hadn't won a sprint yet.

I think they both really want to win.
