Well done Cav, that was a close finish. I thought van Moer had done enough.0

He is overwhelmed"If I was a 38 year old man, I definitely wouldn't be riding a bright yellow bike with Hello Kitty disc wheels, put it that way. What we're witnessing here is the world's most high profile mid-life crisis" Afx237vi Mon Jul 20, 2009 2:43 pm0

Agreed, that's within normal parameters of what happens in racing, it might look chaotic and disorganised but there's that element to it almost all the time due to varying factors of type of race/stage, who wants to achieve what.ddraver said:There was nothing lucky or accidental about that...
Just a brilliant finish to a stage even if Cav hadn't have won.0 -
EPIC! Bouncing up and down on the sofa despite my prolapsed disc! Get in Cav!!!!!
Sometimes. Maybe. Possibly.

Should Mark Cavendish swallow his pride and retire though?0

I'm teary eyed. Wasn't going to have a drink tonight... Might have to crack open the champagne!Correlation is not causation.3

Brilliant. So happy to see, can see how much it means to him.
What happened to Demare. Or is he doing the classic French thing of totally underperforming at the big race.
On a side note the protest was a waste of time. If you’re going to protest then do it properly, don’t ride the whole stage or ride it all slow. Don’t do 15k at a slow pace. Like the UCI and organisers are going to care about 10/20k’s at a slow pace.***** Pro Tour Pundit Champion 2020, 2018, 2017 & 2011 *****0 -
No, you lot are crying...1
-
I don't think I've ever seen a Mark Cavendish interview like that. He's just got no way of processing it.1
-
Wowww. What a finish. Cav's F-bomb sums it up nicely1
-
If he has the legs, getting past stage 12 is his first goal, then stage 19 if I have the stages correct.mrb123 said:Is it too early to start working out how many more sprint stages he might have a chance in?
There definitely is a chance of a couple of more, but he's finished doncha know ...0 -
I'm glad I'm currently the only one sat in my office (everyone else has gone for euros), jumped off my chair and you're the ones that are crying1
-
I bl**dy LOVE bike racing3
-
Amazing! What a fighter!
Great turn from JA. Wasn’t going to let the break go.0 -
A word of praise for Nacer Bouhanni too.
I had my eye on him for the * ratings and he's turned back the clock, too.
He's looking very competitive."Science is a tool for cheaters". An anonymous French PE teacher.1 -
He's in green as well.1
-
That was such a good sprint.
Compare him to Bol, and it's obvious why Bol doesn't really win against the top sprinters.0 -
Genuinely does seem that way, too. Can't see anyone who's not overjoyed.slim_boy_fat said:Joy for cycling fans globally!

Now that's what I call a feel good result.... just fantastic.“You may think that; I couldn’t possibly comment!”

That was so good!!!
Managed to time it in a recovery interval, halfway through a VO2 max workout... massive HR spike for the sprint!
No idea what the neighbours must think!
Definitely got a bit emotional there.1 -
Was it Bernie interviewing him? The 'try to talk us through it, you might find it easier' was quite good as he's usually so analytic but he couldn't even do that today. Hollywood stuff really, the rejected has been coming back to win and nearly being deprived by the plucky breakaway rider. What happened to Demare?Lanterne_Rogue said:I don't think I've ever seen a Mark Cavendish interview like that. He's just got no way of processing it.
