I’ll politely suggest that football isn’t the problem in this instance.surrey_commuter said:

I am surprised to see that written but then I have decades of English players being over rated.DeVlaeminck said:So ... England. On paper man for man we should be one of the favourites.
But when was the last England performance against a decent - say top 20 - international side where you thought that's the kind of form that could win a tournament?
Fingers crossed something sparks - they hit on a combination that works.
I think we have a team of not good enough (Sterling, Pickford) and huge potential (Foden, Saka, Sancho, Bellingham)
I see us as top 8, so quarters is acceptable outcome0 -
We have 3 (Mount, Chilwell, James) first choice of the Champions League winning team, we have Henderson and TAA from the previous year's winning team. Sancho is a star player in the Bundesliga. Grealish a star player in the strongest league in the world. Sterling was a starter in one of the strongest sides in world football until replaced by Foden who we also have. You can go through the squad.surrey_commuter said:

To say these players are over rated is to ignore their club form - non- English managers like Klopp, Pochettino, Mourinho, Tuchel, OGS etc have rated them very highly.[Castle Donington Ladies FC - going up in '22]0 -

Tbf the players in the 00s were top class too and England still played badly.DeVlaeminck said:

Having top players only gets you so far.

Not expected. I am a fan of Trippier so i’m ok.
I rarely play a back 3 in FM so at least I understand what the plan is here0 -

Ps forgot TAA is injured.[Castle Donington Ladies FC - going up in '22]0 -
Harry Maguire being injured is no bad thing IMO.The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.
I am not sure. You have no chance.Veronese68 wrote:PB is the most sensible person on here.1 -
Croatia's match odds are insane. I know England are favourites given home advantage but the patriotic is mad.0

The camera down the willy isn't anything like as bad as it sounds.

Wtf are we starting a RB on the left when we have Chillwell, who has just won the CL in the squad ?1

I Just hope Croatia don't come out on the pitch with the electricity Mate Rimac and the swag of Goran Ivanisevic.0

You should checkout David May’s medal collection- did that make himworld class?0 -
To be fair UEFA have done pretty much all they can by giving home advantage to "The Big Teams" so if one of them doesn't win it they never will.
A very unfair playing field in my book.0 -

I agree that it is a sad post. The sad part being it is true.

Or the best overlapping fullback in the league, in Shaw.Ben

This team doesn't look like it needs an overlapping full back. They don't exactly bomb up the wings looking for crosses.Ben6899 said:elbowloh said:Wtf are we starting a RB on the left when we have Chillwell, who has just won the CL in the squad ?

They started off like that, tbf. Settled into a more controlled approach for the remainder.Ben

Actually a pretty good performance and could have scored more.

I'm 53.
Football has changed since David May - these teams have the money and the rules allow them to buy and play the best from around the world now - you don't start regularly for Champions League finalists without being a top player.[Castle Donington Ladies FC - going up in '22]0 -
So they’re playing 3-5-2rick_chasey said:There was talk of him getting back into the team.
The best player is Virgil van Dijk and he is of course injured.
A bit like the England team there's a lot of potential with youngsters but compared to England not that many of them are doing it at the highest level.
Ironically they don't have many wide players like they used to.
They'll be pleased to get to the knockout and just see how they do. It's nice to be back in a tournament tbh.
Tactically I don't know that much as they have a fairly new coach, De Boer. Dutch love getting into that sh!t and everyone wants a 3-5-2 but he's fairly old school so wouldn't be surprised for a more straightforward 4-3-3, not least with van Dijk injured.
Memphis Depay is the "maveric"0 -
Dutch game been fairly entertaining for the neutral. They seem to have found a player with worse heading skills than me however, should be 1 up.0
-
-
Very open game though, Ukraine have had a couple of good chances too and maybe should have had a penalty.0
