So the law is that if you lose a player to a yellow, then need uncontested scrums that you lose a second player too? I never knew...

Correct. Been that way for a few years now. Helpful to have a couple of players who can play across the front row.

Sarries getting a second humping in Bordeaux.

I thought it was any team that needs to go uncontested for any reason not just a sin bin. They were getting smashed in the scrum so I suspect the player they’d already replaced was miraculously ‘injured’ too.

Could have been even worse if any of those first half reviews had gone against them. I thought the one with the forward pass was extremely marginal, especially as Sarries had one far more obvious, yet it was play on.

I thought your boys had it in the bag after leading at HT after playing into the gale.

Seemed that the wind eased slightly after the break, but Bath also became more passive, I thought.

Excellent first half defensive effort, but the wind eased in the second half, Exeter player smart rugby, ref allowed them to do what Exeter do at the breakdown (off feet, in at side, sealing off), and the key injuries and massive tackle count had an impact. Added to that how poorly Bath kicked with the wind and how poor the lineout was, it was a game Bath threw away. They played no rugby at all in the second half. Feyi-Waboso was excellent too, and Bath struggled to put him on the floor early.

Overall Exeter deserved to win, but Bath definitely blew it.

Hopefully they can reverse the result in 2 weeks time, and Finn and Cam R's injuries aren't bad.

I don't watch an awful lot of Premiership or Champions Cup Rugby but bloody hell, my local side Saints are impressive!

Managed to catch the last 20 minutes of the Quins vs Bordeaux match. Quite the epic but the French side were almost exclusively playing catch up rugby.

Meanwhile, in the woman’s 6 nations, it looks as if 2 of the 4 sides will fail to score a single point, while the other 2 chalk up a collective cricket score.

Still gets top billing and blanket coverage from the BBC. No idea why.

Of course, Wales then go and score.

    82-5 it is.

Ireland, sorry Leinster thumping La Rochelle. As ever the ball bounces perfectly for them, not so for LaR!

Irish commentary team are awful though.

Feels weird that they’re still playing in June. Is that normal or due to the World Cup at the start of the season?

It’s the final I was hoping for. Sale and Saracens both were exceptional in defence and took most of their limited opportunities, but it’s Bath and the Saints that play all the exciting rugby.

Season started late due to the world cup.

Normally the final is the late May bank holiday weekend.

I’ve not been paying attention until very recently- bit of a turn-around since I saw them in the 2021-22 season.

Only turned on at the start of the second half but Bath are playing a stormer with 14 men.

What I saw of that was a great match to be fair. Bath really put up a fight, some superb performances by the likes of Du Toit, Underhill and Russell. The quality is a different level from most of the URC stuff I see, not that I watch it much these days.

Fantastic performance with 14 men and didn't get any luck - 3 bounces of the ball went saints way - Sleightholne's try and two that favourable bounces would have been Bath tries.

Really don't agree the red was right - clear mitigation right down to a penalty IMO.

The Bath players should be really proud of their performance.

    MotM decision was an embarassment.

Gutted, don't often get a chance to best the AB in their backyard. We had more than enough to win, poor place kicking from Smith perhaps cost us.

I have to eat my hat though. I thought up to and including the WC, that Borthwick was the wrong man. From 6N onwards his plan had really started to develop and we now look like a proper attacking side again.

Yeah - England ran them close there . . . whinging to the ref by the Kiwis was quite evident . . .

  • It usually is! Even worse is the NZ rugby media whenever they lose a game. It is usually some kind of refereeing conspiracy in their books.

. . . and what the hell is the bloody music between plays all about? Bloody awful (I went to England v Wales in the 6N and it was the same)

Looking forward with interest to see if missing the World Cup was worth it for Monsieur Dupont.

Edit - I see France have just drawn with USA.
