I was surprised by the number of rugby journos and pundits picking NZ to win ahead of the WC. France, SA and Ireland are all better teams at present.
I would still like Ireland to win but the French will take some stopping. Seemed like they didn't even have to play in 5th gear tonight.0 -
How can a pass be "flat out of the hands" when the player isn't going forwards and still land in front of where it started?0
-
Good match, that.0
-
It was impressive for ITV to finish the match with the wrong score on screen though0

One of the boys I used to coach has been training with the Englad squad in France this week!
Ireland about 7 classes above the Romanians0 -
I will slate Farrell and his tackling all day long, but Curry's red looked mightily harsh to me. Yellow yes for the head but no malice and it was a real attempt to tackle. He had no time to adjust IMO.
Surely the Argentine 10 has to go as well then?0 -
Curry red and probably rightly so.
England have no discipline whatsoever.
Guess well now be treated to an evening of kick tennis from England, to see if they can beat 50 kicks.....0 -
JP Doyle seemed to favour the initial yellow.
Sometimes I think we expect too much of player’s reactions"Science is a tool for cheaters". An anonymous French PE teacher.0 -
It was borderline and I will readily accept the decision, but if there was no mitigation with Curry (and I'd argue there was), he needs to explain what the mitigation was with the Argentine yellow.0

The Argentinian had started his jump before Ford kicked it. Can't change your trajectory in the air.
Problem is, England consistently failed to bend at the waist and hit low. They seem utterly unable to learn the lesson,0 -
Dear me, this is the polar opposite of last nights match.
Argentina are equally clueless in attack.

George Ford! 2 superb DGs!0
-
Dumb from May.
And perfect example of how to butcher an overlap - miss the extra man out!0 -
Fair point regarding Curry. I do think the fact that the Argentinian had already jumped should be overuled by the complete recklessness and lack of any attempt to change course when he easily could have. Just my two cents though.
Ford is definitely stepping up so far though and Argentina really look shaken up. Perhaps they thought they only had to show up seeing how terrible we habe been lately.0 -
Hat trick. Does he keep the match ball?1
-
Most importantly, taking points at every opportunity. Clinical is not something England have been for some time.0

Yes, good call. Smart also from Ford. It is the only way they are going to win games. They can't play teams off the park so squeeze them and keep the scoreboard ticking over is the best option.0 -
Who would have thought? Drop goals suddenly back in fashion.

England playing well but Argentina look clueless0
-
England are doing what they are doing well, but haven't threatened ball in hand at all, and never looked like scoring other than through Ford's boot, but Argentina have been terrible.
It's papering over a few of the gaping England cracks.0 -

It’s a match won, but you don’t win tournaments by kicking the ball between the sticks alone.
I am surprised by how poor Argentina were, but they have been up and down throughout the recent S hemisphere comp.

As I said earlier, we couldn't have hand picked an easier group. The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.
I am not sure. You have no chance.Veronese68 wrote:PB is the most sensible person on here.0 -
3 mins in and the officials miss a clear head on head by the Saffas.
Clear red.
If Ben Whitehouse, TMO, missed it, he should be heading home this evening.
Also failed to look at deAllende's elbow to the face when he was tackled into touch.0
