Just finished the highlights.
Eyebrows even further raised than yesterday.
Unless Alaphillippe has a big crack later on, I call shenanigans.0 -
heros of the day were the parade of super climbing domestiques including the Movistar stalwarts. soler spewed his lungs out.
Goudu, de plus Bennett Amador. it's rare to see that pressure kept on for that length... usually a controlling team rides within itself at tempo unless attacking. what happened here is we had teams tag-teaming all the way up. the pauses were very slight between swapping roles. when Movistar dropped themselves (lol). Ineos took up a very "within themselves" pace which was swamped by other teams almost immediately. it didn't relent"If I was a 38 year old man, I definitely wouldn't be riding a bright yellow bike with Hello Kitty disc wheels, put it that way. What we're witnessing here is the world's most high profile mid-life crisis" Afx237vi Mon Jul 20, 2009 2:43 pm0 -

Not sure who's limit he's talking about. :P
Also said he maybe could have won the stage, but was happy for Pinot.
Thomas, on the other hand, said he "felt weak".
It’s not a climb that suits him, so wouldn’t rule in out yet but not looking great.
...Thing is though...
He's 25. We don't really know what sort of rider he is yet.
What were the last...oh...7 (!?!) TdF winners winning when they were 25?
I havent looked but I'm assuming Cuddles was still an MTBer then...
Edit - Forgot about Nibbles, 6/7 TdF winners then...We're in danger of confusing passion with incompetence

Is very important to remember to take his age into account.. I forget just how young he still is0 -

Duh, it's that new drug that only cycling teams know about of course. They are well ahead of the testers and medical professionals, didn't you know? 'Big Pharma' invests billions in R+D to help cheating in a minor sport just like it's a hot bed for companies researching tiny but powerful electric motors.0 -

Better then then Bernal on the Alp last year...
You think? Bernal rode for what, 6 or 7 kms and reduced the group to 6 or 7 riders. De Plus did at most 2 kms, and reduced the group to 10 riders.0 -

the same as sky were when they won everything - you know, marginal gains: taking their own mattresses to races, washing their hands all the time, the chefs using lots of aubergines.
or perhaps its just alaphilippe's year because he's worked damn hard over the past few years for it and Ineos are cracking apart as these are wont to.

Boring fact, quick step have been bringing matrasses to races for over a decade, given they were sponsored by Innergetic / Latexco.0

For me this tour has all the hallmarks of last year's giro.
Froome written off by the second week, but sky had been riding to peak in week 3.
I can see it happening again, only with G not froome of course.
Alaphilippe may look strong now, but so did Yates last year.0 -
Oh well we'd had a quite a few stages before the drug talk started in earnest this year...Correlation is not causation.0

Question is do I cash out on my bet on Jules A now and keep a tidy profit or risk it till the end? He was on the limit today, but they all were.0
