Devastating for WVA, monster time by TDG, the new benchmark.

TDG goes first, not many would have predicted that.

-16 for De Gendt, kept the same time from the second intermediate.

Looks bad for WVA, he's not moved, but the crowd were very sensible.

TDG has clearly been having his salamis.

I'm beginning to think my PTPs curse the riders. Tough on Van Aert, hope he's OK

He’s always been a good TTer. Wasn’t he top three in the final Giro TT only this year?

Have rewatched VA's crash a few times in slow motion. I think he may well have clipped the foot of the barrier and that's what then caused him to hook up on the banner - he definitely hooks up as you can see the banner start to stretch and the barriers are actually dragged inwards towards Van Aert. Sad way for his tour to end.

I wonder who Thomas thinks will win now?

This has got him written all over it if he doesn't hold back

Shoooot, did he catch his bars on the barriers?
Maybe the cloth banner. Hurt his leg by the look.

That's what it looked like to me.
    Right leg. Something broken.

Are Sunweb going for team classification?

It's a very technical course, just hope all the GC contenders are able to get through unscathed as they'll generally be more likely to be pushing the limits. One of the riders a few minutes ago had a twitchy rear wheel on a fast, twisting descent.

Needs to spend some time in the windtunnel working on his TT position.

What's even the point of giving him a TT bike for the day? Just give him a BMX and let him entertain the crowd for 27km.

At last, a race experience I can share with a pro cyclist.

Mollema 4th fastest, Landa 11th at the CP.
Looks as if the GC boys will feature heavily.

Bardet apparently talking about changing bikes* for one of the climbs.

    *Which should not be allowed.

It does seem unfair how he could be on the ragged tip of his TT bike, then switch to his super light 2nd bike.

It's not unfair if everyone has that option

I just think it's daft that it's permitted at all.

Millar's very much a Foogleslang man.

Vincenzo Nibali told RAI after his time trial finished that he was tempted to join Rohan Dennis in abandoning the Tour yesterday.

It's only a bit of sport, Mun. Relax and enjoy the racing.

As I recall that was the first time I've heard Dave go with Fullsang (and the vice versa with Ned).

I suspect it's an in joke that keeps them entertained on slow days, like reading the notes about points of interest on the stage verbatim in a deadpan voice.
