As of today, if you py for spotify, you get 15 hours of audiobook listening thrown in free per month.monkimark said:Spotify have an audiobook section now and have made some recommendations.
I have little interest in the ones based on my book preferences but the ones selected based on my music preferences look pretty good

Which is great but no search function, or even seperated genres as far as I can tell.
I was looking for something for the kids to listen to in the car - ended up scrolling through the list until I found a kids book and then looked at 'more like this' until I found something they might like.kingstongraham said:

You can search by author or title. I only want books I already know I want, so is fine for me.monkimark said:Which is great but no search function, or even seperated genres as far as I can tell.

Ah yes, I was obviously too bleary eyed to check properly on the train this morning0

I'd always thought that trains and canals were two discrete transportation systems, but it seems that in Scotland they are integrated.

Unless your paying for duo/family. In which case only the primary account gets access. None of the others do.kingstongraham said:

Now having to look at swapping my account with herselfs, as she likes audiobooks and I'd rather read.0 -
I didn't even know that eSIMs were a thing, but it makes a lot of sense.
Still a lot more expensive (roughly x10 for me in France) than a local SIM if you go somewhere frequently, but much cheaper than daily roaming rate charges.

Maybe, but is this the "right kind of water" on the tracks?0 -
eSIMs are the same as normal SIMs. Some phones now only accept eSIMs.briantrumpet said:I didn't even know that eSIMs were a thing, but it makes a lot of sense.

I use Ubigo eSIM sometimes. Works well. You can also get packages eg. Carribbean which means you don't need different SIMs for every country.
It is cheaper to get a proper local one, but sometimes that's a lot more effort and just being able to walk off a plane with data is worth the extra.0 -

I didn't know that either. Also makes sense.
Yes, I'd certainly do this if travelling more widely, given that getting data for a month like this is equivalent to just two or three days daily charge for roaming access on a UK SIM.0 -
The access charge gives you access to your normal plan though, so that could be unlimited data.briantrumpet said:TheBigBean said:

True.
A parallel intriguing thing is why my French data is so much cheaper (110Gb for 10€) than my (Giffgaff) UK data (£10 for 30Gb)0 -
The sam bankman-fried, trial. How did so much money go "missing". Why did someone with such cheap taste commit such a large fraud, especially given the amount he was legally earning in prior roles. It's all just...odd.0

Wondering what locals in Hemyock think about their water fountain celebrating the "peace in South Africa in 1902" in 2023. Its lovely thing, but...

The Terminal Car Park 2 suffered a "significant structural collapse", Bedfordshire Fire Service said.https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-beds-bucks-herts-67073446
Up to 1,200 vehicles may have been in the car park and subsequently damaged, the fire service said.
Was the Luton airport multistorey car park fire set off by a deviant EV (on charge, some issue)?
I mean fookin hell, we don't want this happening too often.0 -
The world is 4.543 billion years old and in the time it has taken you to read this sentence, 38 babies have been born.
(That's my calculation derived from reading the sentence in 8.3 seconds, birth rate of 1 baby per 0.22 seconds. Other stats may vary).seanoconn - gruagach craic!1 -

Time it. Divide the time by 0.22 and come up with your own statistic. It's immaterial. Second time around it was far quicker. I only posted because it puts time into a warped perspective.briantrumpet said:pinno said:The world is 4.543 billion years old and in the time it has taken you to read this sentence, 38 babies have been born.

Make the calculation of say, a 70 year life span as a percentage of the age of the world.seanoconn - gruagach craic!0 -

The fire investigation team are saying it started by a diesel car, DIESEL!focuszing723 said:The Terminal Car Park 2 suffered a "significant structural collapse", Bedfordshire Fire Service said.https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-beds-bucks-herts-67073446

Can't believe that, unless it was non-related to the dieselness.0 -

I don't get it. It looks like a Land Rover variant to me. They do hybrids, I think they're petrol though. I guess it could have been something left plugged in...rick_chasey said:Yeah isn't it quite hard to ignite diesel?
I don't, know. Crazy though, that's fifty odd million up in smoke.0 -
I assume that's someone taking a shot with a phone, shame the fire services couldn't have gotten to it quicker.0 -
Also looks like the lights are on.
Electrical issue? The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.

No way that big fireball explosion was a diesel based burn. Way too rapid. I wonder if we'll ever know.
Doesn't look like the Range Rover was even parked in a bay. Looked like it was just left in the lane. (Quelle surprise). Hope no one was injured last night. People are always coming and going in car parks.Sometimes. Maybe. Possibly.

I was wondering if it was parked at all or caught fire whilst being driven into the car park (would explain the lights being on).photonic69 said:No way that big fireball explosion was a diesel based burn. Way too rapid. I wonder if we'll ever know.
