OSLO, Jan 3 (Reuters) - The sale of electric cars in Norway rose last year by 48%, ensuring that almost two out of every three new automobiles were battery powered and making Texas-based Tesla Inc (TSLA.O) the top selling brand.

Seeking to become the first nation to end the sale of petrol and diesel cars by 2025, oil-producing Norway exempts battery electric vehicles (BEVs) from taxes imposed on rivals using internal combusion engines (ICE).

Tesla grabbed an 11.5% share the overall car market, making it the number one brand for the first time on a full-year basis ahead of Germany's Volkswagen (VOWG_p.DE) with 9.4%.

The U.S. auto maker on Sunday reported record quarterly deliveries that far exceeded Wall Street estimates, riding out global chip shortages as it ramped up China production. read more

The Tesla Model 3 was the single most popular model of the year ahead of Toyota's (7203.T) hybrid RAV4, the sole car among the top-10 with an internal combustion engine, and Volkswagen's (VOWG_p.DE) electric ID.4 in third place.

I'm surprised really, given batteries don't work as well in colder climates and you don't get the same kind of by-product heating of combustion engines.

    I'm surprised at that too.

Anyone got shares in Tesla by any chance?
The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.
I am not sure. You have no chance.

I'm beginning to think Focuszing might actually be Musk.

Oh that is absolutely an element of my dislike of the firm; there’s a proper army of Tesla fanbois who take it all incredibly seriously and pile on attacks on critics - including joe public punters asking for advice on faults and repairs for their Tesla cars.

Focus is incredibly mild by comparison

This is not new - they sold Scotch mist in jars in the US in the 70's.

Just sell a jar and tell people you have odourless farts.

A jar of farts versus a jar of Scottish mist. Difficult choice there.

I don't know who she is but I'd be happy to give her a good deal on jars of farts that she can label them as her own before flogging them on

Yes, was in the last tweet in the thread, not any prediction by me! None of it makes sense, so NFTs fit right in.

But they interviewed her at home. Someone must have gone to school with her or know her in some capacity. Once someone is doing interviews in person on TV, I don't think it is that easy to hide.

    True enough.

Good tunes though. Makes me realise that stuff I think is modern music is actually about 20 years old because it sounds like this.

The Prodigy album Experience is closer to Chuck Berry's More Chuck Berry than today.

Ha, same here - it's giving me late 90's in the back of my mates car at 2am flashbacks.

Kazakhstan had 8% of its entire energy taken up by crypto mining, a big contributor to the rapid rise in fuel prices which in turn was the catalyst for the uprising.

Funnily enough they set fire to the the mines quite early on.

I think there may have been other more important causes to the rising fuel prices such as the current gas price and the government changing the whole market?

Bitcoin is still trading 24 hours a day across borders without any interruption. Bonus marks if you can name the local currency.

Here's something shocking about wasting fuel- billionaires' superyachts.
According to one calculation by Indiana University anthropologists, one with a permanent crew, a helicopter pad, submarines and pools emits over 7,000 tons of CO2 a year.
Multiplied by 300 -- roughly the number of superyachts worldwide that fit that bill -- that equals over 2 million tons of CO2, more than the individual yearly emissions of about a quarter of the world's countries.

Probably still less than one Tesla factory though.
