I'm sure there are many, but things like improving trains services in the south (with HS2) whilst making them worse in the north (axing HS2). Liz Truss also went big on a few tax cuts for the rich which I think had an impact on voters even if Sunak was slightly more moderate.Stevo_666 said:

There are plenty on here either at risk or abandoned.
There is also no mention of small boats.
They campaigned on not raising taxes, but put up NI and have kept the bands frozen.
Lots of NHS pledges in there not happening. Obviously covid has a part to play in that but I don't think you can chalk it all up to that.
They've utterly failed on their immigration pledges.
Plenty of core conservative issues.- Genesis Croix de Fer

And they spaffed more covid money to their mates than Labour ever did on nationalised industries, I suspect.
I see from the Telegraph, they've identified they can cut £4bn from disability benefits, so at least they are true to form on that.

Surely every major heavyweight in the party has been asked - it's about whether you are up for it.rjsterry said:Osborne is probably glad he didn't get a call. Dorries must be absolutely seething that Cameron has just waltzed into the Lords. 🙂
Surprised Cameron is up for it, but presumably he could do with some legacy washing and hearing that Blair got asked by israel to help with the peace negotiations probably helped push him to be up for the foreign sec role.

She's not really 'Minister for Common Sense'. The fact that her appointment was tacked on at the end of the day and is officially Minister without portfolio tells you that it is just a bit of glitter to distract the idiots.briantrumpet said:At least cones weren't just a concept.

The definition of 'under way' is pretty generous. For example on the point about providing more diagnostic equipment to hospitals, they have got as far as promising that they will allocate some money towards it. The money hasn't actually been distributed yet, let alone any equipment purchased.TheBigBean said:

I was working in a role that had a lot of contact with DWP back in the 2010's. I remember before the 2015 election having a meeting with a senior aide to Esther McVey. They knew she was going to lose her seat, when I asked why she was going to lose, the aide responded "because people can't stand her".
Says it all really.1 -

Yeah, the chatter was that it was done to appeal to the GB News and headbanger brigade which sounds about right.0

I suppose it's quite funny that Farage will come out of the jungle to find Cameron's back in charge of relations with the EU.1

In a scathing letter to the prime minister, Ms Braverman told him "your plan is not working"."

It's all rather delicious.
Just a shame they are still cosplaying being in government. Mind you, we did know that they didn't give a monkey's about what's best for the UK, given their predilection for unicorns.0 -
"I have become hoarse urging you to consider legislation to ban the hate marches and help stem the rising tide of racism, intimidation and terrorist glorification threatening community cohesion," she added, accusing the PM of putting off "tough decisions in order to minimise political risk to yourself".
Well he sacked her, that’s a start I suppose.1 -

What is it with these people and their utter lack of self awareness? It's quite extraordinary.0 -
My favourite part of the letter.
"Dear Prime Minister
Thank you for your phone call yesterday morning in which you asked me to leave government. While disappointing, this is for the best."
She could have stopped there.
PS - Why are some media referring to this as a resignation letter? She was sacked! The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.

I see that the Tories still have a 56-seat majority? Couldn't they do something with that, given all the problems in the UK? 🤔😜0 -
Fantastic stuff. Imagine having a public tantrum that your boss wouldn't let you break "European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR), Human Rights Act (HRA) and other international law".- Genesis Croix de Fer
