Some mistakes are being made though, James Corden is just a bloke, there's nothing to get and Gavin and Stacey is complete shite by the way.

The main ones not mentioned yet are:

Game of Thrones, Prince, Formula 1, The League of Gentlemen and Chicken.

I mentioned Game of Thrones a few pages back.

Middle aged people mimping about stuff. You guys sound like Pinno.

    What yer sayin' like?

I watched The Empire strikes back at the age of 9 before I saw Star Wars. It was brilliant.
I also love 2001: A Space Odyssey. Funny that.
Both are susceptible to ageing and leaps in CGI but in the context of what was on offer then, the Original Star Wars trilogy was excellent, although the silly Teddy Bears in Return of the Jedi were, well,,, silly.

I don't have sky so don't get Game of Thrones either, all I know about it is it has a lot to answer for round here, closing down roads due to tourists looking at trees. Who'd a guessed that would happen?

    Alcohol.

Is everyone's life so $hit that the only way to get through it/enjoy it/have fun, is to fuel up with alcohol?

Not saying I never have a drink, but rarely. And I would rather $hit in my hands and clap than have a "night on the ale".

    I just don't get it.

I think alcohol is a weird one. A glass of wine is alcohol and could probably be enjoyed on its own merits same with a stronger drink like scotch. The alcohol is not the reason you drink it it just so happens to be alcoholic. I agree the idea of going out on a bender and drinking your own weight in Stella is perplexing when you feel crap afterwards and have nothing to show for the money to literally pi$$ed away

I've said this on another thread here. The amount of people I hear going on about dry January as though it's a major challenge is scary and yet none of them would admit to alcohol dependence as though it's only an issue if you are drinking at breakfast time or from a bottle wrapped in a paper bag. The fuss I heard several TV and radio presenters making about doing dry January last year almost led me to making a complaint. I enjoy an occasional drink but the last two years at least I've made it until the last couple of days in January without one and I haven't even been trying.

If you enjoy life and spend most of your time laughing when with your friends, then getting blind drunk with them can be nothing short of magic, and most fun-loving people will say the same.

If however you are not the kind of person that spends most of your time making each other laugh when you're out with friends, I can understand how drinking a lot with them can seem like a boring and tedious activity, as there's nothing to enjoy in the first place.

In the end we all get older though and the thought of a hangover does become more and more intimidating.

People who can't ever seem to socialise without a drink are pretty blinkered though, just the same as people who can't ever socialise with a drink are.

I find it interesting that a few alcoholics who are now dry talk of how good it is to no longer need a drink to get by. But they also say they haven’t a really good time since they stopped drinking.
I suspect that people who claim to not understand the attraction of alcohol are just a little bit repressed and up tight.

Maybe. But if you feel you need to take something to reduce your inhibitions and have more fun then who's repressed?

I don’t need to take anything to reduce my inhibitions but I guess others are more worried what may come out if they let their guard down.

Not worried. I just know I don't enjoy the experience. I can be quite miserable enough without chemical assistance.

Well, having fun doesn't appeal to some people, so a drink isn't really going to help.

Football. I don't mind it as a sport to watch or play but I don't get the total obsession given to it by the media at the expense of other sports. Even in the off season the sports pages are dominated by football stories.

Similarly, sport - again, I like it, but don't understand why "News and Sport" is a thing. You might as well have "News and Fashion" with the latest updates.

A lot of people make a lot of money from football and footballers (or even the fans) very rarely kill other people*. Nor is it in any way obligatory (except maybe in school).

    * as far as I know.
