I understood that Rapha was pretty much entirely that.

For an example of how Rapha have mastered getting people to pay over the odds for a product solving a problem that doesn't really exist (and then even using that product to 'solve' a different problem that even other Rapha users are saying doesn't exist) read this https://forum.bikeradar.com/viewtopic.php?f=40013&t=13107803

  • I have no issue with expensive things, whatsoever. People like to buy nice things. 30 quid phone case, be my guest.

But a 40 quid white t shirt especially to wear in a workshop, fettling bikes and getting covered in oil?

That said, it does look like a nice tshirt for not getting covered in filth. Still, I'll pass.

But a £30 waterproof phone case that you are going to take your phone out of so that you can force a waterproof jacket into it instead rather than simply put it in the pocket of your jersey?
  • That's stupidity.

Likewise buying a £40 white t-shirt to use as an oil rag.

£40 white t shirt to wear whilst working on the bike?!? Not to mention the price of some of the other stuff.

I thought everyone just wore their old clothes when doing work on the bike?

what an utter crock of shyyyt.

not one old Smiths t-shirt or ripped pair of shorts in the whole collection.

    bet people buy it though.

Not familiar with higher end clothes shops are you?

not when i'm in a workshop covered in oil or in the case of the picture, swarf and filings.

Not familiar with hard work or having a useful talent/skill/trade are you?

you should investigate it while you're on the train at 5:30 tomorrow morning on your way to push somepaper around and trying to recruit arseholes to do overpaid jobs.

Frank Skinner does his gardening in an old suit (pretty expensive when new I'd imagine) because he doesn't want to throw it out and doesn't mind it getting dirty/ripped - i like the image of someone gardening in a suit, not sure why
