Salmon, trout with toasted almonds, purple sprouting broccoli stems and leftover cottage pie 😃

    Wtaf?!

Serving as a starter? Or on the same plate?

I suppose it all ends up in the same place :)

Separate dish but eaten together. After eating, I can see why fish and cottage pie hasn’t really caught on 🤔

Nice one Euan the Ukrainian, looks amazing. Even better that bambina loves the food of the gods. Unless the MF's are cruel, and give bambina her food hell on her b'day.

Your spuds look lovely. Fish is just best spanking fresh & raw or grilled or fried. Bit of lemon, bit of butter, maybe combined with some egg yolks and emulsified!

I love fish, don't get me wrong, and a beachside chiringuito, or taverna is a super place to eat fresh fish. I don't enjoy cooking it myself. Prejudice is hard to break, but on balance I'd rather be prejudiced about cooking fish at home, than anything that'll p!ss someone off. Love cured/smoked fish too, but they don't need cooking. I'll do mussels at home, or rather if I'm somewhere I can buy a kilo or two of fresh mussels. Or vongole/clams with white wine and lots of garlic and lemon. Razor clams are lovely too, with some buttery samphire, but again, I'll pay someone to cook that, too easy to turn into a pencil eraser.

Weird thing, prejudice. I'm scared of cooking fish for no good reason.

Raymond Blanc does some of his fish in plastic pouches in a Bain Marie. That Tilapia bake was at a very gentle 145 deg c with a covering of breadcrumbs and the moisture from the butter and the lemon made the flesh perfect in texture. I have a special porcelain gratin dish and it seems to spread heat very evenly.
Quite inexpensive too so no need to panic over spoiling some expensive wild Salmon and ending up eating beans on toast.

Ps - I have spuds growing in the garden. They're doing well despite our micro drought* (I have been watering them). They are late Cara's recommended by loon so if they are pants, i'll blame him.
*Go 25 miles and the rest of the region is green. We're baking and the grass is brown, even the golf course nearby is brown bar the watered greens.

Off pedalling in the heat the morra, I love pedalling when it's 'ot.

Very chewy despite 8 hours in a casserole pot steeped in Port.

Last Friday I made Paneer Korma - you'd be proud of me Elbow.
    But Shorty didn't like it.
So today, I made chicken Korma. It was very good but i'd like a few more veggie dished in the diet.

Don’t you just love it when you slaved in the kitchen for hours and one or both kids turn their noses up at your effort. Punching kids in the face should be legalised in such extreme circumstances.

Judge: “Mr Seano, you are here by charged with punching your kids in the face, how do you plead?”

Seano: “Not guilty your honour, they were rude about my cooking and I really felt like punching them in the face.”

Judge: “Fair play, you’re free to go.”

Yep - the best of it was that I had made the Paneer the night before so it's not like I opened a tin of beans, stuck it in the microwave and slapped it on toast.

I dunno why. It 's like a dagger straight through my pride, my ego and my heart. I guess there's that wanting to put a smile on their faces and when it doesn't happen, it's devastating.
I'll give Tricky her due - she eats everything and loves trying new food.
Mrs Pinno is fair to middling. Not that adventurous.

I'm walking a tightrope Seano. It's tough. The forward planning dept©. is in dire need of alcoholism or marihuana. Or both.

Oh well at least my two is the other way.

When Shorty was 4 and in her high chair she picked a piece of broccoli up and said mournfully "i'm sorry tree".

The missus is great, she gets what I’m trying to achieve and is always very appreciative when I cook, even if I don’t quite pull it off. Likewise, anything she makes I’ll eat, even if it’s not my cup of tea because she’s cooked it for me. Fortunately she’s a good cook and and never makes a bad meal. The kids are up and down depending on their mood. One day you’ll get “this is great thanks, best ever!” Give them the same meal a week later and they could be pushing it around the plate with a face like a slapped @rse. 🤷‍♂️
