I wonder how far Lotto and Sunweb will let Landa get up the road, before they do the usual TDF thing?

Going the other way this section is superfast.

Not watching, but presume they just been through La Mongie? That ski town is really hideous.

Only useful as an indication of the gradient of the climb as you're going through.

I climbed to Puy St Vincent Station 1600 yesterday just because form a distance it looks ridiculous, like a Bond Villain's hideout, I wanted to see what it looked like up close. And well, it is butt ugly I can tell you. Like some crazy set of dominos deposited onto the side of the mountain.

Zakarin makes it, Bardet only just.

They have to catch the lead group before the descent or else they are likely doomed...

Zakarin rode away from Bardet onto the group they were chasing. Then Bardet got back on.

From the photos, it looks like someone grounded a cruise ship up there.

Anyway Romain Bardet cements his French Exchange Student credentials by starring in a French Levis advert. It is as you can imagine it. Terrible. With some upturning collar action and everything.

Yes that's a very good description.

Anyway nice climb from Vallouise. About 7km at 6-7% or so. Top half had just been resurfaced so that's nice.

Looks as if the three groups are descending at pretty much the same pace.

So when I was heading in the opposite direction to where they are now, through the valley from the Aubisque which I'd just gone over, to the Tourmalet, I still had the Tourmalet, Aspin and Perysourde to go.

Guy I was with was being overly chirpy banging on about how pretty it was.

"Rick, I mean, wow, look at this scenery"

    "Seriously, shut the f*** up".

You'd hate to climb with me, I distract myself from the pain by waxing lyrical about the scenery, sometimes just to myself

    Grubs up in the group.
Meanwhile the front group chain gang are being chased solo by Amador into a headwind....
