At least froome can be satisfied that the race got away from him on the road and that it wasn't the case that team orders held him back. Tour giro vuelta in a row is still some achievement.

He'll probably only go and win the Vuelta now.

Not enough altitude training by Froome to cope with today?

Not that I watch pro races much, but that's the first time I've seen him crack on a mountain top finish.

Froome could struggle to stay on the podium now. Recovery day tomorrow though? Surprising how little the Giro seems to have affected Tom's legs so far.

tourist boards of the French mountain departments should search out these high pasture access gravel roads and pave a few more.

Theory - the time gaps would have been bigger at the finish had this been a 220km stage.

Shows what the Giro did to Froome, tough to come from that to the Tour and blow everyone away

its a real ask... TD doesn't look as sharp either.

Add in the Salbutamol bo11ocks, and it's no wonder Froome's flagging.

Plus Michelle's about to have a baby. He'd be forgiven for having his head elsewhere.

    Explains my erratic behaviour :P.

Indeed, but it will be argued that this stage was the most exciting of the race, so next year there will be 30km stage.
