Craddock spotted, I was getting worried he'd done something stupid like stayed up front.

Alaphilippe takes the first HC climb of the Tour and keeps going over the gravel.

Idiots with smoke canisters because clouds of white dust aren't enough for the riders to contend with.

The roadside display of French resistance fighters all got a little Les Revenants for a minute there.

No interest in making things hard in the peloton so Rowe has been able to sit on the front the whole distance and the leaders have opened the lead to over 6 minutes. Very few riders shed so far. The break / attack / attack from the break could hold on here.

Craddock could be losing big time to the sprinters here as he is still with the peloton.

Froome punctures on the gravel but no panic.

Hypothetically, should GVA be in yellow tonight with a 5 minute gap - could he conceivably defend that if he rode out of his skin for the next 2 weeks?

    Nah.

He'd need about 15 mins to think maybe.

    Puncture for Froome.

Meanwhile Bernie Eisel recounts a terrifying story of a spectator grabbing his musette while it was round his neck on a stage years ago that included the Telegraph, Galibier and Alpe d'Huez.

Looked like the Les Mis barricade scene from the distance. Peloton showing them a bit of respect.

Remembering the fight against fascism seems oddly prescient these days.

Bit concerning then to look up and see Froome alongside our erstwhile no. 13.

It does given that Macron has just passed a law letting him interfere in parliamentary debates (executive interfering in the legislative) and proposing a law to censor news.

They are on around about the slowest schedule, so a pretty late finish.
May have to pop it on record.

Can't see G being happy as it seems likely he'll be deprived of a possible day in yellow.
