    Time to dig in

    Oh fuck off Carlton.
Napoleon, don't be jealous that I've been chatting online with babes all day. Besides, we both know that I'm training to be a cage fighter.

I feel sorry for all of you watching this on Eurosport UK.

No. Moscon in yellow now apparently

Moscon, then G and Kwia both 6" back

Despite Kirby repeatedly saying G had moved into the lead.

Watched without commentary. It really didn't need any today.

So any idea whether the climb was scenic or anything today?

Doesn't look much fun out there now.
Missed it ... did it tiddle down?

This is what the upper part of Gorges de la Borne looks like in sunshine...

Mind you, the lower part is better:

    It's a cracking climb.

It did wee it down. But we did get a few gorge shots.

A real pity - it did last time too, when they'd come from south Vercors.

It really did - the TV coverage started just as they got to the very top of Col du Mont Noir, so missed all of that climb.

At one point you could hear the wind whistling as it was picked up by the camera microphone on one of the Motos: it was infinitely better than CK's twaddle. He was getting a little too excited about his suggestion that MS should go handgliding in a pair of Speedos.

As I said earlier, it was an odd choice of a col, other than it's one of the highest on Vercors, and roughly where they wanted to go. Not one for spectators, and the descent from it is very ordinary. TV didn't miss much, at least on that bit.

The funniest part was when he said "that must be wrong. We sometimes get it wrong. Well, when I say we I mean the organisers"

No no, Carlton, you had it right the first time

David Millar went quite far out of his way to praise TGH for that ride, and I'm always inclined to trust his judgement. Think the Giro has kind of messed with our concept of what a decent stage looks like though...

People have got to stop talking about TGH like he's a kid now. He might be babyfaced but he's a big powerful man now and he can rip races apart!

    (ahem  )

Happened to still be awake the evening that Bernal won up the mountain in the ToC this year - he was seriously impressive on that climb. He single handedly drove the peloton up that climb with people dropping off the back one by one until Bernal launched off the front with 2km to go.

Thomas looked hardly out of breathe coming in after Alaphilippe yesterday so must be in fine form. Hope he can take GC

Agree Thomas looked in good nick yesterday, reacting to Martin's move very quickly. Today's climb should suit him too as it is a very constant gradient

Matt Stephens is everything CK should be. I really hope they're lining him up as a replacement.

'He's got a degree, but it's a degree in form today'. I think he should be moved before he picks up any more hints from Kirby.

I thought the same, I wondered if he was just taking the mick out of Carlton.
