Owain Doull staying at Sky for another year

Is one year par for the course, or does it suggest one or both parties are unsure about a long term future?

His press release was very much ‘I need to crack on a bit’ so I reckon he has to prove himself.

Good to see Ed Clancey get a ride. Vitus Pro.

David Lopez is another reportedly leaving Sky. He's the sort of person they'd give a staff role to but he wants to keep riding.

Sounds like he's got half an eye on his future. Not a silly idea really...
he's still a huge figure in cycling and his ambassadorial stuff will take over as his talent wanes. hopefully he has a decent year, though if you look at his social media, his focus is clearly the family, which you can understand! hope he gets another clean run at the tour and is over his ill health.

An open letter addressed to Rick Delaney & Tom Timmerman... https://twitter.com/ndyfenn/status/1061 ... 21/photo/1

Delaney has deleted his Twitter and Facebook accounts.

(I thought this was the least irrelevant place to post this - it's not worth a new thread)

You know how long telephoto lenses "flatten" the image of a bunch sprint and make it look closer than it actually is. Well this is how extreme the effect can be with a super-long lens.

This story about Aquablue suing a rider for speaking out contains an interesting table that shows how much (little) some pro riders make. The least well paid is on 20k euros unless there are other forms of income (win bonus?)

What a childish piece of sh*t Delaney is. If this is Andy Fenn, then suing him is an absolute disgrace. They've basically ruined a rider's career FFS

Since there is no longer a team and the brand behind the sponsor is now also defunct, who is suing and on what grounds? Since Andy Fenn's (I assume) comments can't be causing reputational damage to the team, it smacks of sour grapes. No money to pay the riders but money to sue someone, nice.
  • Sounds like bluster to me, given the erroneous exclamation marks and ending salutation of "Have a tremendous day!"

20k is less than the minimum wage for a Pro Conti rider so it's probably actually Eddie Dunbar whose wages are mostly being paid by Sky (the 0 will be Brammeier)

The Trumpy-baby made a habit of bluster and threats to sue; seemed to work out ok for him (sadly). So perhaps in this modern world people observe and copy behaviours.

Couple of riders on €150000, that must be more than many WT riders.

Ah, diddums. No-one has offered to help them and are only contacting them to chase money. Are they for real? They pulled the plug on the team leaving riders and staff out of work and have failed to pay them on time. Why do they think anybody owes them a favour?

Does it? I think what they are saying is that Elissonde's contract situation for next year isn't currently known. Given his quality, he'd be an obvious choice to any French team, so the fact that he hasn't moved yet would suggest he doesn't need to as Sky have renewed his contract. They do this every year and extend riders contracts without announcing them.

    Yep, made my day that.

Now we just need someone to give James Shaw a chance.

Whatever happened to TIERNAN-LOCKE in the end, he was banned for doping but appealed etc..? Haven't heard his name for a long time.
'Performance analysis and Froome not being clean was a media driven story. I haven’t heard one guy in the peloton say a negative thing about Froome, and I haven’t heard a single person in the peloton suggest Froome isn’t clean.' TSP

Came back to racing for a few months, got the arsehole that he wasn't allowed to slot straight back in as a first cat. No results to speak of then dropped out as he had 'fallen out of love' with cycling. Tw@t

Not since early 2017 I believe, I think he's into property development nowadays.
