Also Nizzolo to Dimension Data confirmed, which makes Cav's purported move to Bahrain Merida seem more likely.

Can't really see Cav on a Merida bike. Will Specialize sign on with Bahrain or is Cav no longer a draw for a bike manufacturer?

^ u23 : James Shaw contract with Lotto, and others as stagaires in sky and Bahrain. Ethan hayter very good in European track, not sure how that translates to this course.

max Stedman gave a decent account in td yorkshire (might have made Kom but for a mechanical) and 20th in tob.

Specialized are all in with Sagan now, the de facto superstar. I can't imagine that with Bora and Quickstep they'd be rushing to Bahrain for Cav. I could be wrong but they're hardly short of wins.

I can see GB being strong in the Junior and U23 men as well.
Really? With which riders? Genuine question.

I know nothing about the juniors and don't know who has been picked for the U23s but Donovan and Williams would seem to be the best options GB have at that level and neither looks strong enough to actually win.

I hadn't seen the squad when I wrote that but had assumed Pidcock would be racing. I actually think Steve Williams has a reasonable chance, he's done well in Ardennes races in the past that I assume would be comparable. I'd also thought Scott Davies was still eligible but I'm not sure now (I'm surprised he didn't make the senior squad on this sort of course).

I'm not into gear but the link is apparently to do with McLaren.

Why not, he's not been on a Cervelo since 2016.

He has also been rather unhappy with said Cervelo and been praising Specialized.

Dunno what he's on about. I moved from a Venge to an S5 and it's brilliant. Of course, I'm sh1t, so that might spoilt the comparison a bit...
Fat chopper. Some racing. Some testing. Some crashing.

  • Is the greatest sprinter GB has ever produced with the most sprint stages victories in the TdF (excl ITTs) shit or does he have a chronic illness which affects his performance?

Cav is sadly finished. Doubt he can come back in a meaningful way from this. Would love it, but I think it's done. He will not break Merckx' record.

I don't see why not, orange is their corporate colour. I used to love the BMC kit but it's gone down hill recently.

Lars Boom to Roompot-whatever they’re called after the merge.

No surprise he’s moving on. Had a terrible season and NL Jumbo have WVA on the way.

Nest year's pro scene in Britain will look very, very different. Hoping that a few large players come in with sponsorship budgets, or I'd imagine all of the riders will need part time jobs to carry on riding.

scrapped or never got beyond chatting about it with a few journos because it sound like a good thing to say.

sorry its my inbuilt cynicism but it never felt like it was much more than a what Id call a fishing expedition to see if the idea caught on with any potential sponsors at the last minute. I mean Prior was quoting figures of 1.5million to run a team, the top teams budget probably doesnt even exceed 1/4qtr of that, literally for the list price of one of their support cars they could have run a decent UCI WWT team

Aqua Blue riders haven't been paid this month, and are relying on the UCI bank guarantee to cover them. Which usually takes months to get released.

I always thought Delaney was dodgy and not quite legit - this now seems confirmed.

Adam Blythe advertised all his Aqua Blue kit for sale on the Yorkshire Cycling Sales FB Page yesterday.

To be fair, he's done that for all of his old team kits as far as I know. Seen him advertise Tinkoff and Orica kits the past couple of years too.

Agreed on Delaney too, what a complete and utter d1ck.

He specifically said on the cycling podcast interview that he was going to honour all contracts for riders who didn't get other contracts - so if true he's definitely a tosspot of the highest order.

Trixi Worrack (CanyonSRAM) & Audrey Cordon-Ragot (Wiggle High5) have also both joined Trek bikes new team, quite a strong team they are building with Lizzie D, Elisa Longo Borghini, Ellen Van Dijk, Taylor Wiles, Ruth Winder, Abi Van Twisk Lotta Lepistö, Lauretta Hanson & Letizia Paternoster cant be too many slots, if any, left there now

theres a danger of womens racing being a trek benefit display.

you say that but Boels have still got the last 2 world road champions Dideriksen & Blaak and the last Olympic champion in van der Breggen, they are still the number 1 team in womens racing imo. Mitchelton Scott & Team Sunweb... who have just signed Pfeiffer Georgi btw which is fantastic news, are pretty damn strong now as well, and with Marianne Vos CCC/Waowdeals team leading the rest at the moment, but if Canyon SRAM signed a few more riders, then Niewiadoma is right in the mix as well

dont get me wrong Trek look very strong with that line up, but I think we are actually near to reaching that critical mass of very talented riders spread around alot of teams, theres not a team of allstars anymore who will just win everything, so next years WWT could be incredibly unpredictable

I hope so, it would be great to watch from a season perspective then. Lets hope they coverage and parcour are up to par too.
