Now that's something that there is a market for, interesting to see the number of aqua blue colour helmets etc that are going cheap

Tayler Wiles & Abi Van Twisk both go from Trek Drops to Trek.

Also CCC become new headline sponsor of Marianne Vos' current Waowdeals team, Waowdeals may stay on in some sponsorship role

A cynic may expect a Kasia Neuwadoma to CCC announcement soon...

(though I think she's got another year at Rapha)

As expected Geraint Thomas is staying at Sky. Three year contract.

  • I clicked on the "team" page to see where it went.

    It was a 404.

PFP to "focussing more on MTB in the future"

Not stopping road, but will not be priority. I suspect she'll still rock up for CX Worlds too.

Seems like an unusual shift in that direction. Does that happen a lot? Is her road career waning and MTB easier to dominate?

Not really. MTB is her first discipline, makes sense to go that way. Women's XC racing has been stellar this year, PFP hasn't managed a win despite some decent results. Maybe she thinks that focusing on XC will give her the missing small % needed to win.

And quite possibly utterly hacked off with the pathetic financial rewards in women’s road racing.

True, if she could get some proper MTB sponsorship she could probably make a bit of extra cash...

Plus I suspect an Olympic medal in 2 yeas time is tempting. Jolanda seems to have trouble either peaking for, or handling the pressure on the big occasions so there's a good chance if she focusses on MTB. Shes got the fitness for sure, but no one can stay with Jolanda on the descents.

She's not really done much of the road lately. Her last win was three years ago. She's only been in the top three once in that time.

She's always said she wants to split Road, CX & XCO, her coaches have always said she had to focus on one. (I think she hints at this when she talks about being "difficult" to her coaches)

One suspects the season 14/15 incrediyear gave her some bargaining power on that front but since then it has perhaps become clearer that actually riders have to specialise to really win* in a particular discipline. Perhaps the recent increased professionalisation of all 3 disciplines in womens cycling has had an effect too.

Also, be under no illusions that XCO is in any way viewed as a lesser choice in France

*I'd say be competitive, but she has a habit of podiuming in races she does, so she is competitive, but perhaps not likely to beat the true specalists...AKA the Sagan Conundrum...

Domestic scene is starting to look a bit dodgy after a few reasonable years or sponsorship.

Source? I'd heard rumours, but nothing as drastic as that...

Have heard the same, JLT pulling out and as such not enough money to keep going.

They've got their 'ride with the pros' day today - if anyone knows anyone who's on that they might get some gossip from Gullen, Briggs etc

I suspect Aqua Blue disappearing has just speeded up the process and Eddie was always destined to go to Sky but following a similar progression to TGH.

I'm not sure how he can join immediately when they already have the maximum 30 riders (excluding stagilieres)

That's good news. I did notice Bardet was commenting on his NoGoTour last week so wonder if he had anything to do with it.

It would be incredibly churlish of the UCI to object on these grounds. Wouldn't put it past Lappartient though.

My guess is that Sky would counter that Benat Intxausti has barely ridden this year, nor much of the past two years, due to Epstien-Barr so they are using his spot.

Probably not, I spoke to Tom personally from a journo's perspective but he wasn't likely to let on anything at all until things are sorted next week
