Well that was not my time when I road that route...

So that's what you get when there is zero public interest and the roadsides are essentially empty ... some of the dullest TV I've ever seen ...

Not the fault of the riders but even they looked a bit non-plussed about it all ...

The men's race later might even be less exciting, but it will seem more exciting with the crowds and hype ...

Lizzie as blunt and to the point as ever!

I think we can all relate to that feeling!

There must be a special scale version of the Alps that get saved for the pros. I guess the miniature Glandon they used yesterday is accessed by turning right rather than left at the end of the lower barrage in Allenmont!

Great post finish interviews - Annamiek viewing that as "an uphill finish"; one hell of an final kick! And Lizzie completely forgetting the format of the pursuit which follows "oh - that thing."

What did she say? We didn't get an interview with her on Eurosport NL.

    Boels that one up Dolman.
20kms on the front, nose in the wind for Lizzie, wet nursing Megan Guarnier.
Not saying she would have won, but it could have been close.

Unfortunately, ITV seemed to have found the female equivalent of Kirby.

It'd be nice if they could squeeze the two races closer together, but I guess that may be logistically difficult.

Well ridden etc., but sad that what ended up as an uphill TT was how women's cycling was represented at this years tour. They'd do far better to pick a medium mountain stage (or several!) where we'd see the type of racing they can really do well.

First, she should have had confidence in her own chances and wasted energy riding as a domestique as Gaunier put her hand up to lead and then that it was great to have a MTF but the organisation needs sorting out as it felt like an afterthought.

It did seem a bit rinky dink.

As usual blaming others when things don't go to plan. Hard for me to disagree with Jonathan Vaughters' assessment of her on Twitter during the missed tests saga last year:

Unfortunately, ITV seemed to have found the female equivalent of Kirby.

Jo Rowsell? I thought she did OK for someone new to the role.

    Plain stupid, like I said.
MG dropped, comes back, they have a little chat and Lizzie goes back to work.
Too many chiefs at Boels and today, the wrong one was calling the shots.

Unless I'm going deaf, that wasn't Jo Rowsell.
    Wasn't she on Eurosport?
If it was, she sounded totally different to normal. :?

Hmm, I'd seen her name mentioned so assumed it was her. If it wasn't I don't know who it was but they seemed OK and knew their riders so definitely not Kirby level!

Si Clarke is in the break. Who'd bet against him taking back the 2hr 36 he's let Froome get on him? I certainly wouldn't!

I suspect it's more that they're trying to make it look like they're doing something.

The Canyon Sram kits this year are a bit rubbish compared to last year.

They re new just for this race

It's basically been just that for three weeks or so (interspersed with wistful Bubba van Neuwkerke pics)
