Annemiek is on the attack (and I really don't like skinsuits can I just say)

    Anyway, roadside attractions.

Commentators talking about Deignan etc being classics type riders - in a short stage such as this, does that really matter? Would have thought the ability to put out big power over a relatively confined duration would be a good thing.

Deignan looks cool as a cucumber.

Some hilarious person has painted a knob on the road.

Fair do's that made me laugh, any pictures?

Lizzie appeared to increase her pace but Van Vleuten is pulling away and looks to have this sewn up.

Hadn't realised she's also a good time triallist, commentators suggesting she'll take the overall too.

Her pref are the short sharp climbs, but think back to the Rio RR, a climbers course - she worked on her climbing throughout the 15-16 winter and early spring - and got 5th

Lizzie has gone off to chase alone, can't see her getting there although Van Vleuten slips a chain briefly and loses momentum.

van Vleuten nearly loses the chain completely!

Enjoying the commentary. I'm used to hearing Gilmore's insights but Jo is doing a good job with limited experience to date.

If Lizzie holds on for second, it will be a phenomenal ride.

Slightly disappointing that it ended up as pretty much a TT over the last 5k but some very impressive rides.

Jo R-S is great - especially for a newbie.

Longo Borghini's Colnago is a stunning bike.

Borgini doesn't look like a natural climber. Guarnier puts in a big comeback for 4th place.

    Chapeau Annemiek!

About 35kph average speed for the stage.

  • About 50 minutes for the climb?
