ITV commentary been good thus far - Pippa York, Cav, Millar, Boulting. Though ITV ads are really crap... still better than the Kirby chuckle.
Yeah, always liked Gary Imlachs tongue in cheek comments too.

St Jean de Maurienne used to be my old watering hole, before the Col du Mont Cenis and regular Summers hols in Bella Italia.
Spent, many an evening and night there, hopefully looking up the Croix de Fer, cos the main road was on the other side of the hotel. :)

Pippa was once Robert Millar. Officially came out as transgender last week.

Should have deffo chosen a name that doesn't translate as w-a-n-k in another language, surely he/she has ridden the Giro and is aware of it

Been listening to ITV4 at work - Pippa York was good value, especially on style ("Professional cyclists are always watching themselves in shop windows, although they get embarrassed if you notice them do it"). Cavendish also entertaining - I know ITV have done the 'guests phoning in' thing before, but it does add something to these stages that have lots of air time to fill.

Currently in the process of choosing baby names with my wife and can honestly say that checking names against meanings in other languages hasn't and won't be done.

What's wrong with her picking a name she likes?

I cycled past this one the other month. I don't think the pocket knife would stay there for long if it was on a roundabout back home.
Kudos for anyone who knows where it is and why?

The joys of the advert breaks. Some bunny boiler moves in with her partner and before even unpacking insists on him taking out life insurance - that's the time to run! Then the helpful woman at the Accident Helpline confirms to the woman who had a shop sign fall on her head while walking down the street that this isn't something you expect to happen. I bet the victim was pleased to get that confirmation.

Is that a random commuter that's some how got tangled up in the race in their baggy blue boil in the bag jacket at the back of the bunch?

    wrong... it has two meanings

    1) "mi sono fatto una pippa" I had a w-a-n-k

    2) it also refers to someone who is particularly bad at something... say a crap striker, who never scores a goal is "una pippa"

Nicely done by the Trek rider at the back - getting out and putting on jacket only once past the summit, heading downhill with no hands looking round at how his arms get in. I'd have been on the brakes from the top!!

I can't remember if I've said it here before (I probably have - I don't see originality as a virtue), but in certain limited circumstances I'm now fully in favour of reopening the ivory trade.

Matthew's descending ultra-smooth. Always fun hearing the moto tyres squealing.

Matthews riding with an Ass-Saver (c) - rarely see those in TdF
