    Tom D experiencing Nibs's karma.
Out the back and 3 teams are killing it on the front.

    Which teams?

    Not a drill?

4 teams now killing it. Froome's Vuelta type stage!
Well over a minute and a half.

Dumoulin's also sitting well back in the group he is in, I think he might have a problem.

Sunweb are going to get some help from Orica and Lotto-NL

Let's hope Plaza still has some of his pace from yesterday...

    What the hell happened?!

The time-checks on Eurosport had the gap out at 2 mins at one point, but looks to be closing... down to less than 30s now apparently. Just had some helicopter shots and the whole race is strung out single-file. They're definitely not hanging around.

Yeah I think there might have been a problem with the time gap as it is now showing only 15 seconds - this would also explain why Dumoulin was looking so relaxed in the chasing group, sitting halfway back and drinking like nothing was out of place.

Also explains why Orica/Lotto-NL have only just come to the front.

Speculation on Eurosport that he was attacked while coming back from a nature break!!

Now him pooing I had no particular issue with but that's not really on (if true).

Gap showing 1 minute but it looks much less - they've just taken the neutral service out as well out.

Yeah, I wouldn't be surprised, but if I was Tommy D I'd be getting every single Sunweb rider to the front of that group until the gap is closed; they're all useless when it comes to the mountains anyway, may as well get them to do some work for him on this Giro.

Gap back out to nearly 1 min again apparently...

Time gaps look like nonsense when you see the overhead shots.

Eurosport stirring the toilet break speculation.
Doesn't explain the other 50 odd peeing at the same time and on a climb or it's descent.

Break with nearly 6 minutes, Eurosport now live:

Clément Chevrier (Ag2r La Mondiale), Pello Bilbao (Astana), Nicola Boem (Bardiani-CSF), Gregor Mühlberger (Bora-Hansgrohe), Pierre Rolland (Cannondale-Drapac), Maciej Paterski (CCC Sprandi Polkowice), Tobias Ludvigsson (FDJ), Evgeny Shalunov (Gazprom-Rusvelo), José Herrada (Movistar), Dries Devenyns (Quick-Step Floors), Daniel Teklehaimanot (Dimension Data), Jurgen Van den Boreck (LottoNL-Jumbo), Rui Costa (UAE Team Emirates) and Ilia Koshevoy (Wilier-Selle Italia).

Did anyone know he was riding the Giro? You'd have expected him to have been a key support for Kruijswijk.

    Apparently it was just speculation.

Nibali and Movistar seem to have burnt out a lot of their guys already.

Well now the Sunweb DS and Italian commentary are saying Dumoulin dropped back for a natural break, Herrada stuck with him and radioed to tell Movistar to attack.

    Who knows.

He's got a motivated Yates, Mollema and Kruijswijk to ride with as well.

    Gap only 19s-20s.

Quintana has no teammates so Nibali appears to be in the position of strength here.

The time gaps are actually measured between the two TV motorbikes, so if the two groups are stretched out whether the motos are in front or behind makes a lot of difference to the time gap.

    Well I missed some fun didn't I?

But it's all coming back together.

    Ha ha ha ha!

    Suck on that Mr. Nibbles.

They are pretty much back together now anyway. Yates pulling them back together.

This is nuts - still 90k to go and it's already down to a select group.

Interesting to see what happens now, if Dumoulin was attacked on a nature break it might be handbags.
