But I see them romanticising of that simply as being proud of something made in Britain, of good quality (not often the case) over pining for a job in a factory.*

But that's BigBean's point. There's plenty of product being made in the UK - that's of good quality too. It just tends to be intangible more often.
FWIW I think the headhunting product I am responsible for producing is world class, and I get feedback that says the same from clients in formal feedback sessions.
I doubt we're gonna get 'kippers banging on about the Great British headhunting produce.0 -
Meanwhile, Tim Faron says "Smell my spaniel".

When stroking a dog, "can you smell my spaniel, maybe" isn't a ridiculous thing to say is it?0 -
Quite. There's a dog, it's a spaniel. It may seem a slightly strange thing to say but it's hardly without a basis. Pretty rubbish journalism. My blog: http://www.roubaixcycling.cc (kit reviews and other musings)

I don't think it's even a slightly strange thing to say - every dog owner says "think he can smell my dog on my clothes" about another dog paying slightly too much attention. It means "I also own a dog, so don't care that your dog is bothering me".0 -

I agree. If that's the full sentence. Smelly my spaniel, while offering it forth, would be odd, but at least there's a spaniel there. It's almost as if the journo doesn't realise there's a spaniel there in the video. My blog: http://www.roubaixcycling.cc (kit reviews and other musings)

Thing is, May's doing a sterling job with that message, regardless of how you feel about her/truth/substance.

I was chatting with someone who has decided to stand as an Independent candidate in a Tory safe seat (around 17k majority) after hearing the incumbent say he might not bother canvassing. The guy is a Councillor and one of those people who gets this done by hard work and force of personality, just the sort of person I'd want to represent my constituency. I reckon he'll take a good chunk of that majority but won't get close to winning. However, in order to fund his campaign he's had to use money he saved for a trip to watch the Lions tour. Until election funding is sorted out in some way we'll always be dominated by career politicians parachuted in by one of the big parties and there'll never be real change.0

I'm not sure about the twitter message on that picture "De'ath follows you"0 -
Why is it that the instant you become PM, you behave like a c*^t?
Had a cracking dream last night:
TM was canvassing live on TV and asked me and my wife a question as we were walking the dog along the coast. Told her we weren't interested but she persisted. I tore an absolute strip off her about my pregnant wife having to run around like a headless chicken as a nurse thanks to the lack of staff before telling her to f*ck off.
Was a shame to wake up and realise it was only a dream.0 -

Sure, but dodging questions doesn't land in people's mind the same way a slogan or a poster does.0

Support for the Conservatives is now at 47% - some of you lot are really going to be in a minority soon at this rate
http://www.ukpolitical.info/General_election_polls.htm
Oddly Labour seems to have gained a few points as well. Maybe some people think that 10,000 police for £300k a year is a financial masterstroke by Abbott And as for the Lib Dems picking up votes by being the only clear remain party - doesn't seem to be working. At all."I spent most of my money on birds, booze and fast cars: the rest of it I just squandered." [George Best]0 -

Someone's got to look after the centrist liberal cause.
The less of us doing it, the more important the work is;).0 -

They're just really bad at it. I don't really know what their position is, but guess it's more like mine than Zac Goldsmith.0 -
As yet rumouring only:
Alison Saunders, head of CPS caves in to pressure from No.10 and delays charges on Election fraud until 12 June. After GE 2017.
But, hopefully:

Yup yup, doing my bit.
Got some fancy American kit on I pads when canvassing now.
Really a little worrying how much info you can dig up on people...0 -
Is quite easy in our neck of the woods.
Tory redevelopment/gerrymandering in the 'hood isn't going all that well, lots of people are upset about the local hospital closure, and, au naturellement, I live in a heavy remain area, so can bang on about my favourite topic.
Nonetheless, it's only council votes we're after; veeery safe seat.0 -
