Sagan- what a hitter. Top sprint from Kwiatkowski though to take that. Chapeau!0

Doesn't bare thinking about.
Kwia would have gone like he did in SB - between the two of them they look so much more powerful than the rest of the pack. And Allaphilipe is gonna win lots0 -

Sagan used to really annoy me for reasons I couldn't fully articulate and now can't remember. These days he mostly just makes me laugh - it probably helps that he seems to enjoy pure racing regardless of whether he wins or loses. Pleased for Kwiatkowski though for taking that one - he seems to have rediscovered himself.
All of this0 -
They key to beating Sagan from a small group is to do a turn at the front with around 1.3-1.5km to go because Sagan will then come through and be in the lead with 1km to go and stay there. When he leads out the sprint he gets beaten more often than not.Twitter: @RichN950

Sagan is as strong as Hodor, in fact he would have held the door, although he couldn't shut it on Kwia, I'm rambling I'm so excited
I'm going out to play on my bike !25th August 2013 12hrs 37mins 52.3 seconds 238km 5500mtrs FYRM Never again.0 -
That was fully awesome.
Alaphilippe was shaking his head in the run up - did he think they would get caught or did he know he couldn't win?0 -

I love Sagan. Just wanted to share that.0

Sagan just went a bit too early. I think he could have won even from the front if he delayed his sprint slightly.0

I feel like he opened up early to try and catch them by surprise, and the gap that he opened suggests that it did. Just that bit too far to hold though.
I'd be interested to hear Cavendish's view on the finish, actually - he's pretty good at describing the nuances of wind, gradient etc and the way that they sometimes conspire to bugger up the cues that riders rely on - just to learn if there's anything that might have prompted Sagan to misjudge that moment to go.0 -

Such a shame he wasn't commentating today. It would have been worth it to see if he got all excited at there being an Aussie bloke called Clarke in the break and assume it was 'Si'0 -
The Kwiato bashing on the comments on various cycling news pages is ridiculous. This was literally no different to the thousands of breakaway finishes that have gone before it, but because its Sagan people lose their minds.0

I was going to post pretty much the same thing. The world is full of idiots, apparently Kwia is a 'wheelsucker' (have these people never seen Valverde race )
One of the articles even states that Alaphillipe did turns on the front while Kwia sat in! :roll:0 -
The Boonen v Cancellara of the next generation those two.
Alaphilippe is the real deal. 24 and he's already been within a hair's breadth of wining Liege and MSR.
We'll look back at that break in 10 years time and say that was a seriously heavyweight group.0 -

Second that - until his attack it was looking like possibly the worst edition of MSR on record. I didn't even realise they were so close to the top of the Poggio because there had been so little action I assumed there must still be more to come.
For me it was disappointing Nibali has finally accepted he has no chance - if long range attacks never even look like succeeding then nobody will try and the race will be that much poorer as a result. I don't know what the answer is but they can't rely on Sagan to make the race every year.[Castle Donington Ladies FC - going up in '22]0 -
If Gilbert can knock out a 4 minute box hill (same height, length and steepness as the Poggio), Gilbert can knock out a proper attack that gives him a touch & go advantage over the top.
If he stopped playing silly buggers.0 -
