Sure, it's pretty much what people would assume to be SF though rather than elements of the likes of the Paras / Marines providing support.

    the whole problem is assumptions.

people think of SF and come up with one idea rather than thinking SF and coming up with the actual idea.

SFSG isn't just Reg/Booties/Reg though. Much bigger minestrone.

Anyhow, its all a moot point considering the only people who may be there if they are there at all and who knows if they are are not SF but SFSF and some civil servants who work in HR and IT, if they are there at all but no one knows if they are.

  • Put it this way - Exercise Chameleon that takes place at Leuchars (once RAF Leuchars - now Leuchars Army Station) has been cancelled for Feb/March. It's a bi-annual exercise for the SAS/SBS and elements of the RAF and AAC. You can fill in the blanks.

Somewhat worrying how Putin will react to things apparently (hard to know the truth) not going to plan.

CNN had footage of a thermogenic (I think) rocket launcher in Ukraine. Googling this thing if they chose to use it against urban areas it'd be horrific.

This is the thing that worries me most, if Russia continue taking losses the gloves will probably come off and they won't even bother trying to look like they are aiming to avoid civilian targets.

Edit - Frank Gardner saying similar to this now.
If the gloves come off to the point that clear war crimes are committed it will be entertaining watching that roll through the Hague. Putin really is limiting his future holiday options. He must really love Russia.

    Grabbed from the Beeb....

In a 2018 documentary, President Putin commented that "…if someone decides to annihilate Russia, we have the legal right to respond. Yes, it will be a catastrophe for humanity and for the world. But I'm a citizen of Russia and its head of state. Why do we need a world without Russia in it?"

Probably one for the trivial annoyances thread, but I could do with knowing which airlines are going to be banned from Russian airspace as I need to book some tickets.

This is why we need competent people in positions of responsibility.
    Regarding Putin's comments on nukes.

"Now, the Kremlin has suggested comments from Foreign Secretary Liz Truss were the reason that Russia put its nuclear forces on heightened alert, according to the Russian news agency Interfax.

"There had been statements by various representatives at various levels about possible conflict situations and even collisions and clashes between Nato and the Russian Federation," said Dmitry Peskov, spokesman for Vladimir Putin.

"We consider such statements absolutely unacceptable. I will not name the authors of these statements, although it was the British foreign secretary."
The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.
I am not sure. You have no chance.

I'm not sure I'd want to be flying over that region in any case, Russia has a bit of form there!

I would assume any member of NATO's and any nation imposing sanction on them in tit-for-tat.

So basically go emirates, as they're chummy. If you don't mind giving them your money.

Meh, that's just propoganda trying to create division. They probably see our poor relationship with Europe as a potential weak spot.

    Very possible.
Also possible she has worded something badly.

I'd guess both. Diplomacy in troubled times is not easy, or for amateurs.

I suspect she is on a very short leash when it comes to anything other than the script. I doubt she will say anything that has not been prepared beforehand.

In principle, I have sympathy for the first part of your accurate statement.

The second part sums up our current government though.
That is the sad state of affairs we face.

The Tory talent purge in pursuit of the Cult of Bojo really doesn’t help us.

Certain pubs in the Hereford area have been extremely quiet for the past 2 weeks. Their clientele don’t usually partake in a dry 2 weeks after Valentine’s Day.

Re sporting sanctions - specifically the FAs announcement yesterday - be interesting what they do about the women's Euros being held in England in July.

Go Emirates (or Ethiad for that matter) and give money to a regime that abstained in last week's UN Security Council vote condeming the invasion...... hmm.

Undoubtedly the WFA will follow the FA tbh....

be utterly weird if the English WFA was basically one of the 10 or so only sporting organisations in the world to continue to play Russia
