    Quick test snap

Must be something about plants and new cameras.
This was one of my first with my new DSLR in 2006. I had an SLR prior.

They just wither and die in my experience. Green fingered I am not. 😉

Just heard a steam train go through on the line a couple of hundred metres from me, wish I'd known in advance as that would have been a perfect trial.

Needs some cropping and tidying up but this view rarely disappoints.

That glass wall makes a great filter. Very nice.

I think I do 'cheesy' quite well. I might offer this to the Devon Tourist Information Board to publicise the delights of the Exe Estuary Trail for cyclists. Art it ain't.

Missed sunset and still have some work to do getting my settings right for twighlight shots, ISO was too high and they got very noisy.

More flower shots earlier and very pleased with them.

Today's I'm bored at work shot. Meets the spec of being in the room but with a bit of colour this time. I'm thinking about a new theme, "What's that Grandad?"

Grandad left his flies open again?

What can I say, it's a slow day at work but my constant presence is required in case something crops up. Just keeping myself occupied...

I'd have liked to have gotten outside for a bit. That's me for the weekend now though! 😃
PS - Not had a pair of trainers like that since the early 80s. 😉

More sunset from the train. The site compression has really muddied the top one. Or maybe it's me.

I find if I resize down to 1200 pixels then the compression isn't so bad.
Not sure how easy that is on a phone.

By time I got out of choir it was halfan hour too late again, view from Keeper's Pond (top of the Tumble climb) towards the Beacons / Pen y Fan in one direction and the Sugar Loaf / Black Mountains in the other.

The sky was a lovely very dark blue and this caught it quite nicely but there wasn't much in the way of a foreground and the crescent moon was too high to get any composition

You're working too late if you're seeing sunsets on the commute!

A couple of phone snaps from Eastbourne the other weekend.

two things spring to mind when reading this thread.
    1. i'd love to get more into photography as always appreciated and a little bit inspired by good photographs
    2. i can never get a level horizon!!

I thoroughly recommend it. You don't even need to take photos. 😉 A phone will do.
I find it to be very calming and therapeutic, assuming you can get the time to do it without rushing.

PS - Does your phone not have a grid display option to help with horizons?

Editing software, including the stuff built into camera phone software, will allow you to rotate the image to straighten a horizon (although it obviously crops the image a bit. However, as PB says most cameras / phones will have an option to turn a grid on in the viewfinder. It really helped me, it's great for composing the shot as well as keeping lines horizontal or vertical.
