Post concussion syndrome, after a bike tumble (broken chain) in October 2018. It's a real barsteward. I've not been as badly affected as some, but 3.5 years of it is tiresome. Basically the brain wiring gets a shake for a few milliseconds, which is enough to affect, well, just about anything. No cure as such, though time slooowwwly heals. First three months were extremely grim. Current stuff seems to be autonomic system weirdness.pinno said:

I don't really like taking a camera and my smartphone isn't up to it. Also, I think I've got burnout/overtraining too, so have eased off and cut down my mileage.shirley_basso said:
Go out on the bike with my camera and a couple of lenses. Pootling along slowly and stopping at any photo opportunity.
Absolutely useless for training purposes but a wonderful way to spend a day. Cafe/pub stops are mandatory too. 😉 One from my last excursion.
You might remember Kelly Caitlin... https://www.theguardian.com/sport/2019/mar/11/kelly-catlin-death-cyclist-suffered-concussion-months-before-suicide
I can relate to that.0 -
So a part of you is grateful is wasn't worse but there's a part of you that has to deal with the consequences and I presume, a bit of anxiety when driving or cycling?briantrumpet said:

Pretty much, yes, but it's not anxiety, more a case of just wondering what the bâstard brain will do (if anything) in response.
If there are any patterns (which is doubtful), they are impossible to spot, so it's also impossible to take rational precautions. I still haven't worked out whether I'm doing too much or too little exercise to be helpful... or of it makes any difference at all, brain-injury-wise.0 -

Ultimately, you still lead a full life (seemingly) and that's a blessing.briantrumpet said:pinno said:

ooh look... there's something about a brain injury, I don't know what to say... ooo...

Quick, post a photo!! This is my greengage tree this morning.
I'd better not mention that the brain is giving a bit of belly-related gip this morning.

Edit - Helps if you don't use a protected file so the tweaks are ignored. Doh!
Still a tad dull though. 🤬
The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.
I am not sure. You have no chance.Veronese68 wrote:PB is the most sensible person on here.2 -

You hopeless baskets.
Having said that, I do find photography very therapeutic, as it takes my mind of other stuff, and I can still do it if I'm feeling off.0 -
Liking the flowers being the highlights and therefore the focus of attention.briantrumpet said:Two from me today. Both turned out OK.

Thanks. Caught my eye, at a distance. A long lens fuzzed the mountains behind (which are a couple of miles away), and the light from behind the flowers (wild tulips, a local feature and protected species) made them really luminous.pblakeney said:

Brian's mentioned his post concussion things g a few times, whilst I sympathise I don't want to get into long chats about it on a photography thread.
Back on topic, because Brian likes things on topic 😉 this is a picture of my old man taken by my son, or rather a picture of a picture of my old man. Caught me off guard whilst clearing the house and had me in bits. I may be biased but I think it's rather good.

Furry fern fronds unfurling in a forest.

Also on a plant theme, wild crocuses from today. A week ago this was under a couple of feet of snow. Incidentally, my camera had real trouble with its auto crocus focus, especially on the blue ones. Weird, so I had to get a bit devious. This one was a kind of happy accident... I like the mix of autumn and spring.

This is an easy photo to take, though the effort is walking up the 600m to the viewpoint. The town of Die is in the lower middle, and my village is in the V further up the middle. It's 26C today

You must shock your family, telling them you are going to Die tomorrow.
What's all this talk of hot weather? 13 and cloudy again today, good old Pembs.

Not much difference between colour and b&w down here today. Was beautiful blue skies when I left home. Spot the difference

Yep, even before taking the snaps I was assuming it would need the B&W filter. Most of Wales had beautiful blue skies, we got about 10 miles from our destination and got rain and very low loud. By time I went to the beach it had lifted but as the colour photo shows it was still very dull.briantrumpet said:Pross said:Not much difference between colour and b&w down here today. Tested the night mode on my phone to the limit last night. Very thick cloud and no ambient light. It defaulted to around a 5 second exposure and no tripod so they're not as crisp as they could be or I would have been really pleased.

5 seconds without a tripod, you could be a surgeon with hands like that.Pross said:Tested the night mode on my phone to the limit last night. Very thick cloud and no ambient light. The weather is a bit on the grey side again. Come on sun, I haven't seen you in days.0
