My perfect online presence has just taken a beating. 'Thursday's forecast has some of these 🌥'. How did I ever think that was remotely possible?

And my ray of ☀️ for Saturday has been expunged from the forecast, so thanks for your rays of orange fungus. More colour than I've seen (or felt) today.

Dare I say it... it's looking much more hopeful next week.

Indeed, though looks like I might have to relent and turn a bit of heating on... on balance, I'll take that, given we're into the second week of November, and I'm still in shorts indoors.

masjer trumps me yet again. My effort from today.

Lucky for me, no one sees my failed attempts. Trumps- they should change the meaning of that.

I used the word purposefully. 😂

Oi, that’s insulting!
You get an oversaturated orange fungus for that.

In comparison with that orange, I quite like incessant grey.
That said, maybe his brain is decomposing in a similarly colourful way.
1 -
Thats not over-saturated. That’s wysiwyg surely.

Similar idea to Brian, find some colour and play around with some old lenses.

Whilst browsing Ebay recently, I came across a Pentax refconverter. No, never heard of or seen one before, but quickly realised it looked like a great solution to not having a flip screen for low (to the ground) shots. Basically it’s a film era 90 degree viewfinder adapter.
A quick google on the Pentaxians' forum confirmed it would fit my DSLR (Pentax are good like that) and the A model would allow the digital info to still be displayed in the viewfinder. It had a handy 2X magnification button too, for manual focussing.
Great I thought and at a giveaway price of £8. I quickly hit the ‘buy it now’ tab… ‘Item has been sold’ Damn, some #*@%er had beaten me to it! Back to laying on the floor again, I guess.

This could have gone in the "Cheers Me Up" or "Things I Have Learned" threads but as it is limited to photography I thought I'd put a "life hack" that I learned today that in here.
I have a Manfrotto tripod which has served me well for 25 years apart from being a kilo heavier that the latest carbon tripods available today. What has bothered me though is the aluminium legs suck the warmth out of my hands on cold days. I was watching a YT video all about the different tripod models and heads, and what they are best suited for. The guy was also subtly trying to sell his custom wrapped tripods. Then it hit me! The wrap is basically cork bar tape. Not only do I have some but I've had plenty experience wrapping.
I now have a tripod with 2 legs wrapped that are very comfortable for carrying. I'll have to buy 2 new sets of tape (1 spare for the bike) but that's hundreds of pounds cash saved by not buying a new tripod to ultimately save a couple of pounds weight.

Those water droplets off the mushrooms look like they have awesome potential. I guess the crop would be too much?

I can try, but pretty certain that you'd see in the result all the approximations my cheapo camera and JPGing is making. Water droplets do seem to be largely beyond the capability of my skill/equipment.

Incidentally, I've never seen 'fresh' oak apples before today... I've only ever noticed the old woody ones, once the wasps have escaped.

Thought as much. Might be a reason to use the Topaz Gigapixel AI free trial. But then if you're not overly interested why bother.

If I were interested, I'd start with a proper camera that doesn't guess (as much). It's educational zooming right in on photos that look razor-sharp, and seeing at what point you realise that your perception has been deceived.

Enjoyed the juxtaposition of these two logos.

A follow on from yesterday's tripod post. Went out tonight hoping for sunset photos but that didn't really come to anything, see below (SOOC). As it was cold it was an ideal time to test the wrap, very successful! Comfortable and no energy sapping cold aluminium legs. I will have to wrap the third leg now as the difference between wrapped and unwrapped was astounding. It was handy to have the third leg unwrapped to feel the difference.
Summary, if you have an aluminium tripod you should really try wrapping the legs with cork bar tape.

When it goes cold, I shall try wrapping my legs in cork.
In the meantime, just a splash of fast-disappearing autumnal colour, from my ride into work this morning:

Thanks for providing me with what is now my latest desktop wallpaper (good for 2-3 months)

Wow, glad you like it. 👍

Glad to hear the custom wrap is working. You definitely don’t want your ‘third leg’ unwrapped in the cold, it’d shrivel.😉
I’ve got a CF tripod which has a single rubberised/insulated leg section. Not really needed due to the increasingly mild winters here.
There was a lovely sunset here yesterday, but didn’t have time.
This would’ve benefited from yesterday's sunset.

Saw this today and immediately thought of Brian's "mini forest". Yeah, need a proper macro lens.
Or just learn to use my phone. 😂
