A guy rambling about photography on YT.
Makes a load of sense and can be applied to life in general, and particularly cycling.

The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.
I am not sure. You have no chance.Veronese68 wrote:PB is the most sensible person on here.0 -
My first glimpse of the Aurora on Wednesday night, we got a fainter version last night also out at sea. Unlikely to get anything in port tonight as it's cloudy with frequent heavy snow showers. Considering this was taken hand held 4" exposure holding my camera through a gap in the deck screens and bracing it as best I could on the rail in a very stiff breeze I'm pretty happy but hoping for an opportunity to get something with a more interesting foreground at some point, preferably from a tripod.

"Like" doesn't quite suffice but I've nothing more to add.
Oh, just thought of something. Even on a tripod you will still have boat motion. The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.

A long time ago I spent a summer up near the Arctic circle. Every night I would walk home at 2.30am and by the beginning of August I started to see a glimmer of the Northern lights. I remember thinking how amazing it was going to be to see them every night thereafter. Then there was a forest fire and I saw nothing but smoky clouds! Similarly, when I went to Iceland it was cloudy. Anyway, I'm pretty jealous.Pross said:My first glimpse of the Aurora on Wednesday night, we got a fainter version last night also out at sea. Some relatively boring commute shots, especially in comparison with celestial light shows...

The thing that took me most by surprise was how it looked almost like a grey cloud to the naked eye at first and I had to view it through the camera to get the colours. Once your eyes adjust you start seeing the green but the camera really enhanced the colour. Apparently there was a bit of purple visible just after we came in (which is apparently higher in the atmosphere).TheBigBean said:

Took me a while but then suddenly...

Did a panorama shot in Exeter Cathedral tonight, at our rehearsal for a concert tomorrow. And BR ain't gonna chop this one short.

Never mind the steeplejack, that's one helluva clever cockerel.rjsterry said:Took me a while but then suddenly...

I thought I’d try a longish shutter with ICM to try and capture the action of the wind (on the grasses).
ICM- intentional camera movement.
Hawthorn (in the wind)

An actual concert vertical panorama, and I think that this one is a smidge better, as it gets in the west window too... Exeter has the longest unbroken medieval fan-vaulted ceiling in the world, at 96m. It used to be a darned impressive view in the roof void before they put fire bulkheads in (well before the Notre Dame fire).

Evening
Went out early for a ride so as miss the rain. Then spent as long as the ride cleaning the bike. Dragged out by Mrs W foraging for Christmas wreath making stuff then a tour of garden centres for more wreath stuff. At least I didn’t have make dinner.0 -
The plan was to make something of the grasses again, this time in some evening golden light, whilst ignoring the large surf. Hooray, the fleeting golden light came!

Thanks Pross - much prefer the first one, as it's not trying to pretend it's old. I like the RC cathedral in Bristol too. 1970s Brutalism.

Just had a look at some of the Indonesian Chav Movement shots from the other day.
This one certainly has a painterly effect.

Best of both worlds: sun on the legs for most of the ride, then good cloudage in the background on the way home. East Budleigh, for @rjsterry here:

PS, I thought about being very naughty and photoshopping out the wires, but couldn't be arsed, though I did erase an intruding street light that really drew attention away from the main bit.0

Some starlings coming in to roost.
