You can spend €5000 on an aluminium bike?!?!

I don't think I'd buy a Pinarello, predominantly because of the wiggly forks but also because most of the ones I see on the road are ridden by slow middle aged men. (I've got nothing against slow people spending money on nice stuff if they can afford it but I don't want to look like that's me...).

I quite like the new Madones, and I didn't like older Treks much.

I'd not get a ViAS just due to the funny looks and the obscene price tag but one of my mates had a free Venge Expert to race on the season before last and it was a nice bike. I'm considering the Allez Sprint as a comparatively cheap aero-ish "race" bike.

    There's something about Sarto bikes...

I didn't post the Veneto because I can't get on with the yellow and Celeste.

Sod it. Sorry if you're hungover.

Nonono. The 5000 Euros would be for some type of deal on a Pinarello Dogma F8 or a Trek Madone 9 or maybe even a Sarto etc.

The CAAD12 aluminium would be to go a cheaper route spend around 2000 Euros in total.

Ah see I'm looking at a Sprint with the Wiggle deep sections for ~£1900. Would look fast (although not actually be that fast with me on it :D ).

The Sprints are a bit marmite but I really like the look of them.

I mean, my bike, which comes in at 7kg and is stiffer than I would ever need cost me £1,600.

£1,600 now or when you bought it and if so how long ago... fair amount of bike price inflation in recent years non?

Speaking of 2017 gear for pros...

Nicked from another forum - some of the changes: http://weightweenies.starbike.com/forum ... 5#p1283802

Trek-Segafredo: Rudy Project glasses (were on Oakley)
Quick-Step: Ekoi glasses (were on Rudy)
Fortuneo: Ekoi glasses (free choice before) and Sram (were with Shimano)
Roompot: Campagnolo groups and Ekoi helmets (were on Sram and BBB)
Bora-Hansgrohe: Adidas glasses (sauf Sagan who will wear 100% glasses)
Katusha: Bollé glasses (free choice before)
Orica: Scott glasses (were on Bollé)
Movistar: Abus helmets (were on Catlike for years)
Lotto-Jumbo: Lazer helmets (were on Bell) and Shimano glasses
Crelan and Van Aert: Suomy helmets and Felt bike (were on Lazer and Colnago) they keep Sram
JLT-Condor: Kask helmets (were with Mavic helmets)

    Interesting...

Have Roompot ditched disc brakes then and if not is there a campag disc brake offering?
Sad to see Movistar leave Catlike... have a soft spot for them.

    2011.

There has also been a fair amount of bike development & trickledown in that time.

Hmm. I would wish you luck in finding clothes that don't seriously clash with that. (If you're a bit of a tart).

    Didn't Lotto do it first?
  • Yes. Even though their kit wasn't changing too much.

Maybe it should be mandatory for teams to publish 'design mapping'. At least we would have more to talk about in the off season.

Androni's would be less an explanation, and more like an audit.

100% made their name in the motocross world with goggles, looks to me they have just removed the strap and fitted the arms to go over ears! full_080812_100_article.jpg?1344470529
