If viviani had not been able to carry on, Cav would have won that, it would have been wrong.

Aaaanyway, Sagan takes up his natural 2nd place, no gold for him, great result in that way.

    Excellent finish that.

Barely broke sweat there and left Hammer to do the sprint from the back tactic.

Cav seems to shoulder check twice then drops into the Korean.
Cavendish was looking down to Viviani at the bottom. The Korean rode into his blind spot. Just an accident. Happens quite a lot.

Still don't like this format as much as the old system.

Yeah but that doesn't suit some people's prejudices.

Twitter cav haters out in force, mainly calling Richard Moore fan boy, blind. Saying cav knew what he was doing.......

To be fair, it LOOKED like a deliberate crash. Cav was looking hard over his shoulder then just as the Korean came alongside he moved over. In the viviani incident he wasn't looking and the Frenchie moved away.

You say it happens a lot, but to a professional?

It's hard to be a cav fan but he doesn't make it any easier!!

To say it was intentional by Cav is madness. He's just as likely to go down himself. If Viviani stayed down then Cav went and won gold then I think the earth would have stopped spinning,

How can people say he did it on purpose 9/10 times the rider would crash too!

And they've clearly never ridden in a bunch on the track...

Trott supremely confident. Just sat on the inside doing nothing for first half of race. Then moved out and showed them all how to do it. Always amazing to watch a real master of their craft at work.

I know she hasn't won it yet, but Laura Trott - what a magnificent cyclist.
It's only a bit of sport, Mun. Relax and enjoy the racing.

Glad that Cav got his medal but also happy that he didn't end up beating Viviani after the crash.

    Trott is just imperious.

Thanks BBC for all this channel switching nonsense, missed the last half of the race. Fair result in the end

I feel like we're all competing for medals in channel-changing

Yeah, fair result. It wasn't intentional on Cav's part, it was a racing incident, but I'm glad Viviani won. He was the strongest throughout the event anyway

That journalist is just looking for a reaction though. If the commissaires don't think he should be penalised, why would Cavendish.

Gutted for Cav but also really pleased for Elia

    Trott is just......
We're in danger of confusing passion with incompetence

That's a bit disappointing. I know he's got a bit of fractious relationship with the press, and missed out on gold, but that's not good
